Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of The Truth of Melody Browne, by Lisa Jewell.

Melody Browne can remember nothing before her ninth birthday. Now in her early 30s, Melody lives in the middle of London with her 17-year-old son. She hasn’t seen her parents since she left home at 15, but Melody doesn't mind. She’s better off on her own.

And then fragments of her past start to come back. At first her memories mean nothing to her, but slowly, day by day, she begins to piece together the real story of her childhood.

But with every mystery she solves, another one materialises; with every question she answers, another appears. And Melody begins to wonder if she'll ever know the truth about her past....

Compelling, sad, uplifting and very well told

The storyline jumps a little and can be confusing but stay with it. I love the friendships that Melody makes and also think the relationship with her son is wonderful. All the loose ends get tied up satisfyingly. A lovely heartwarming but devastating tale.

Not enough action for me

Hmmm, I did listen to the end...and the story was pretty good really. The reason I didn’t give it any more than 3 is that my mind wandered several times whilst listening and I reckon there just wasn’t enough action in it for my taste.

Weak storyline

I usually love Lisa’s books but found this a bit tedious and underwhelming. I also thought some of the thoughts and behaviours if 6 year old Melody were not believable. Not for you if you like a story that twists and turns.

boring. I have given this author a last chance. I

this was self indulgent and the most boring book I have read in my eighty years. Lisa jewell was a one book wonder. skipped through it. A waste of a credit.

Beautiful

I have read several books from Lisa Jewell, as her previous novels, this does not disappoint. There is heartache but woven between the pages are beautiful moments. Antonia Beamish does an excellent narrative!

Sad and glorious

I loved this book. It was well written, emotive and poignant. I deeply cared about the characters and gripped by their epic journey. Sad and glorious in equal measures. And the narration was perfect for this story. Going to miss Melody and her friends.
