Well, listen in close, because they’re about to tell all. Nearly all the wives, producers, and network executives, as well as Andy Cohen himself, are on the record, unfiltered and unvarnished about what it really takes to have a tagline. What does “Give them Lala” mean? It means giving the truest, most honest version of yourself to the world. It means being authentic, bold, adventurous, and having an unapologetic approach to life. Hollywood is where Lauren Burningham, aspiring actress from Utah, fully embraced her alter-ego Lala Kent, entrepreneur, entertainer, and film and television star. Some say she’s rude; Lala says she claps back. Some say she’s too bold; Lala knows she’s reality TV gold. Truth is, without giving them Lala, Lauren could never have become the woman she is today.

Summary
The number-one New York Times best-selling author returns with this candid, humorous, and captivating memoir chronicling her journey toward reinvention and self-acceptance.
When you've come out the other side of the bizarre, twisted world of the Playboy mansion, where do you land? If you're Holly Madison...there's no place like Las Vegas!
After making the sudden decision to reclaim her life, Holly broke free from the sheltered, deceptive confines of the mansion (which meant exiting a hit television show) and was determined to start her life over...from scratch. Without the security of a job or a relationship, she set out to reinvent herself on no one's terms but her own.
Deciding to roll the dice and begin again in the glamorous and dreamlike city of Las Vegas, Holly quickly realized that while she may have left her past in the rearview mirror, the labels and stereotypes that came from it weren't so quick to leave her. With a fierce commitment to take charge of her own narrative, Holly dives headfirst into a journey of self-discovery. After a whirlwind stint on Dancing with the Stars, she snags the coveted lead role in the Strip's hottest new burlesque spectacular and lands a reality series spotlighting her new life as a single woman.
If her own television show and dream job as a showgirl aren't enough to keep her busy, Holly explores the decadent, exclusive inner world of Sin City, navigating its social and dating scene with humor and heart. When it comes to romance, she is met with an eclectic cast of characters, from fame hounds to long-distance loves to the occasional celebrity and more than one tabloid mishap. In this reflective, heartwarming memoir, Holly learns that each dating disaster holds an important - and, in some cases, difficult to face - lesson about herself.
The Vegas Diaries is a comedy of errors set against the glitz and glamour of the dazzling Vegas Strip. Through the wild and crazy experiences on one young woman's quest to have it all, Holly faces her fears, anxieties, and insecurities to discover that her journey to self-sufficiency is also her path to healing. Letting go of trying to prove herself to others, Holly finally gains the courage to confront her past - and in the process finds the life and love she deserves.

Holly tells her story so well. with true character
I love having this insight into Holly's life. I listened to her first one, down the rabbit hole - that was brilliant too. if a little disturbing.
I used to watch the girls next door & naively though it was real. but then i was a lot younger then & hadn't understood about the reality of reality TV
a funny, interesting insight into her as a person, how she wanted to get across that she was more than Hefs ex
I am so glad that she found that. no woman should be pinned, or valued by whom she's dated. love her storytelling style. another please Holly!!

Blah
Did not enjoy it. She goes into the history of some landmark I don't care to remember and the reasoning behind casinos serving alcohol which feels much like fillers to the already lacking content of the "book."
She is just riding the wave of her first book to cash in as much as possible. For someone who constantly says how much they don't want to associate with Playboy, she sure makes sure Playboy is involved on all her books in order to draw publicity.

A wonderfully surprising talent
Something about Holly's first book totally captured my imagination and I listened to it multiple times. Although I agree with the people who said that she kind of threw everyone under the bus, there was a part of me that really thought there was some poetic justice there. She's kind of a quiet giant and I admire that.
Now on to the second book. Holly is a very good writer and one of the best performers in audio books. She's really, really a good reader. She does use some of the same phrases (maybe) a few too many times ("My jaw dropped!"), but her writing is crisp and entertaining.
I also find her story fascinating in that she made the things happen that she dreamed of. In my opinion the idea that she's a gold-digger is false. She had plenty of opportunities to "settle" for the kept life. She was looking for more from herself and from her relationships. I truly believe she would have found success with or without the "Playboy" thing. And I totally admire that she took the time to improve herself through educational opportunities. She's more than just a pretty face. She's talented and intelligent but also has a work ethic much to be admired. She talks a lot about social awkwardness and I think that makes her very easy to relate to. She doesn't once say, "I'm confident." What she does say is that she works around social anxieties that would stop most of us. I admire that.
This isn't as "juicy" as the first book and I didn't need it to be. What it is is a tale of survival and amazing success against all odds. I admire this gutsy girl and wish her great things in the future. I hope there will be more from this talented writer and her unique voice. There's no one else like her in the genre.

Not Terrible, Not Believable
I really enjoyed Down the Rabbit Hole, but The Vegas Diaries is just average.
This story seemed less genuine to me than Madison's first book. It's hard to believe that the author is blameless in EVERY situation. Every one else is a douchebag or a bitch and Madison is the innocent bystander or victim. Human beings make mistakes, but the way the author tells it, she was more Mary Poppins than Dorothy. Practically perfect in every way.
As far as the performance goes, it's not bad, but her "W"s have a very distinct "H" sound that I didn't notice in Down the Rabbit Hole, and it became slightly annoying. For example, "When" sounds like "Hwen". It may be because this story is not as strong as her first that the nuance became noticeable in the second book.

Wait is this Mother Teresa or Holly Madison?
What disappointed you about The Vegas Diaries?
You would think she was the Virgin Mary or Mother Theresa; I can't imagine living the life she did and portraying yourself in such a self righteous light. Not to mention she had to be the biggest whiner I have ever had the non pleasure of listening too. I about threw up just listening but figured I would finish it to write a review.
Has The Vegas Diaries turned you off from other books in this genre?
No way I love books like these when not written in such a whiny, redundant tone.
Would you be willing to try another one of Holly Madison’s performances?
Hahahahahaha
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No
Any additional comments?
For someone who rode Hugh Hefners ( don't get me wrong I think the man is a pig) coat tails to fame she sure has a lot of complaints. She would have you believe she was in a hostage situation, sorry I don't buy it.

Fun Memoir of Reinvention
While Holly’s first book was a scathing expose of Hugh Hefner and the Playboy industrial machine, this is a delightful memoir of reinvention and self discovery.
This story follows Holly’s Vegas years from her time on Dancing With the Stars and her time on the Vegas stage as the star of Peepshow. This book was so much fun. It’s full of eccentric characters such as fun loving Nancy, vibrant red headed Hannah and a dancer named Lindsay as well as Josh, Angel and Laura, Holly’s Holly’s World Co-stars. This was a story of Holly finding herself and defining herself as a woman and who she was outside of Playboy.
This book was a delightful read and I would highly recommend it as a follow up to Down the Rabbjt Hole and to fans of Holly’s from Girls Next Door & Holly’s World.
