About this listen

His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, KG, KT, OM, GBE has been at the forefront of British public life since he married Princess Elizabeth in 1947. In the 70 years since, his wit (and the occasional 'gaffe') has continued to endear him to the nation, as he travelled the world taking his unique and charmingly British sense of humour to its far-flung corners.

Hailed as a god by a tribe in Vanuatu, the Prince has had his fair share of brickbats from the media nearer home, but his outspokenness never fails to raise laughs - and eyebrows. From notorious one-liners to less newsworthy witticisms and from plain speaking to blunt indifference, the Prince does what we all wish we could do now and again - forgets polite conversation and says what he thinks.

In the year in which the Prince has stepped down from his royal duties, this joyous and timely book celebrates his wry humour and supremely wicked wit.

Very Enjoyable to Hear

I really enjoyed this. My view is that, yes, Prince Phillip did come over a bit crass, but even so, one could also pick up that there was warmth there too!!! I enjoyed his straight talking, no nonsense approach.

Not overly impressed

It would seem that this man gets away with being downright rude and offensive to people because he's Prince Philip. If he'd been as rude to me as he's been to people mentioned in this book. I'd have punched him in the face. What an unpleasant oaf.

Prince Phillip

The word ‘wit’ needs to be taken out of the book . Good narration but Phillip is just nasty

Very uninspiring!

Blandly written - more as a list of events - and unenthusiastically narrated! Disappointing, as the title suggests a more amusing collection of stories about Phillip.

Horrible person

There is nothing wrong with the quality of the book or with the person reading. Prince Philip was a stuck up snob and a horrible person treating people terrible. And moaning about his entitled life, he has no responsibility that reasted on him, he never had to work a day in his life to provide for his family. And yet het walked around with the attitude that its all about him.
