About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
The incredible, Sunday Times bestselling follow-up to one of the most talked about books of the decade, The Salt Path.
Nature holds the answers for Raynor and her husband Moth.
After walking 630 miles homeless along The Salt Path, the windswept and wild English coastline now feels like their home.
And despite Moth's terminal diagnosis, against all medical odds, he seems revitalized in nature - outside, they discover that anything is possible.
Now, life beyond The Salt Path awaits. As they return to four walls, the sense of home is illusive and returning to normality is proving difficult - until an incredible gesture by someone who reads their story changes everything:
A chance to breathe life back into a beautiful but neglected farmhouse nestled deep in the Cornish hills; rewilding the land and returning nature to its hedgerows becomes their new path.
Along the way, Raynor and Moth learn more about the land that envelopes them, find friends both new and old, and, of course, embark on another windswept adventure when the opportunity arises.
The Wild Silence is a luminous story of hope triumphing over despair, of the human spirit's instinctive connection to nature, and of lifelong love prevailing over everything.

Good but not as good as the first
I’m still gripped enough to read the third but I found my mind wandering a few times with this one.

As riveting as the first book
I listened to this book in one go, as I loved it as much as the author's previous book.
The down to earth descriptions of her world unfolding during and in between her walks are as
heart wrenching as the are warming.

A brilliant sequel
It takes a few minutes to get used to the narrators voice but we’ll worth the effort.

Great Follow Up
Great follow up to The Salt Path
Did wonder at the end whether, following the return from Iceland, there's another volume on its way. Hope so

loved the descriptions.
like the stone on the edge of the beach that has been rolled and turned over through many many years and comes out polished and bright, the hardships and battles that Rae and Moth live through have bought forth a wonderful book

Thank you Raynor,
For contuing to share your story with such honesty I am so grateful. For showing us how healing is possible through remembering and living our connection to the Earth. And that endurance training helps the brain find new pathways is so inspiring. As you swing from courage to self doubt and back again I am with you.

Loved it
It's a shame some people are complaining about Raynor's (very slight) speech impediment as though those people shouldn't be allowed to speak. I think she does a great job. I really enjoyed spending time with her again. I especially liked the meta nature of hearing her write the first book while I was listening to her second. Presumably her third one will.be about writing the second one, and I for one will be totally here for that.

Stunning invocation of the outdoors and the resilience that can be found there
Raynor Winn’s narration of the story of her life with her husband, Moth, is told with love. Her descriptions of the fear that a lack of trust can bring and how being in the countryside (British or Icelandic ) can restore both physical and mental wellbeing are so moving. I have never been tempted to submit a review before, but I simply loved this book.
