Summary
Joey O'Callaghan was just 18 years old when he became a ghost - the youngest ever person to be signed up to the Witness Protection Programme.
Groomed into a drug gang from the age of 10, a cold-blooded assassination sickened him to his core, and he broke the golden bond of gangland silence. His evidence won murder convictions against two of the most violent drug bosses in Ireland. Relocated to England with a new identity, Joey had to face the world alone, and soon realised it was he who had received the life sentence. 15 years on, the ripple effects of the gunshots that rang out that night continue to leave a devastating legacy for everyone. Extraordinary
A powerful, explosive and compelling exposé of two systems. One is how a young child can be groomed into a life of crime and the other of a feeble witness protection programme that let down this particular individual. Gritty and at times challenging, I found it hard to put down, despite the difficult content. A brilliant read, but it must carry a caveat - this is real and sometimes truth is worse than fiction.

Harrowing read
While the story of this poor boys plight is quite distressing to read, I enjoyed the book, narration and overall performance. Wishing Joey happiness and peace x

Gripping, and unbelieveabley painful.
A life filled with horrendous events, Joey experienced so much abuse, and violence to protect his family...painful early growing up, then from 12yrs of age, events and abuse you can't imagine.....hats off to Joey..not many could life thro yr life.

Outstanding
Outstanding story. Frightening how Joey was manipulated and basically groomed as a child. How he got through it all is amazing. I hope wherever he is now, he's in a good place. One not to miss.

What a raw story
I finished this book so quick. I have listened to the witness Podcast which is also a fantastic listen. This book is Very compelling and emotional.

Fabulous
I purchased this book after listening to the pod cast. I could not turn it off. The story is gripping and so emotional.. made even more so by the fabulous lilting narration. I wish Joey and his family every good wish for the future and hope against hope Brian dies in prison.
