Beauty Cookson is no beauty. She's a plain, timid girl who constantly feels inferior to the super-confident, snooty girls at school. Worse than the teasing in the playground, though, is the unpredictable, hurtful criticism from her father. Beauty and her meek, sweet mother live in uneasy fear of his fierce rages, sparked whenever they break one of his fussy house rules.

The only thing that's going right is her school project. It's all about whales and how they sing out to each other to attract a mate – sometimes for hours. Summary
Being a sister isn't always easy ... but what's the very worst thing about your sister?
Marty and her sister Melissa couldn't be more different. Marty loves her Converse trainers, playing football, hiding in her secret den and helping her dad with his DIY. But Melissa loves Justin Bieber and all things pink, girly and pretty.
The sisters can manage to live together, despite their occasional scraps but then Mum tells them they have to share a room. For Marty, having to share her bunk beds and lose her private sanctuary turns out to be the very worst thing about having a sister. But the girls soon discover that being too close for comfort can have unexpected consequences, and when an accident happens, the sisters realise they are closer than they thought.

Monotone delivery
What did you like best about The Worst Thing About My Sister? What did you like least?
Could be quite believableThe expressionless delivery
What other book might you compare The Worst Thing About My Sister to, and why?
Don't know
Would you be willing to try another one of Jacqueline Wilson’s performances?
Book yes, performance no
If this book were a film would you go see it?
Yes, definitely
Any additional comments?
The delivery put me in mind of the BBC Just a Minute programme, where the participants are stringing the sentence out as long as possible to gain maximum time. Expression is not a consideration.

Amazing 🤩
This book is one of the most engaging books I’ve read. It’s one of those books that once you pick it up you can’t put it down. The book is really well written. The end is amazing because it’s keeps you locked onto the book. I find that some narrators can spoil books but not in this one, Jaqueline Wilson narrates this book so well. Really recommend. I think 5-13 years as the end could be upsetting for some younger listeners but not bad and will be fine for some.

Jacqueline Wilson are one of those classics!
Being a slimer, I bascially have time to sit down and read a book but Jacqueline Wilson is one of those authors that you have to read as a growing child. It took me 2 years to finish the illustrated mum because i was so caught up right in the book. The book audio is fantastic, the story itself is brilliant and overall i can strongly say Jacquline Wilson is one of the greatest writers ever!!
