About this listen
College journalist Adele Plank has been granted a rare interview with one-time best-selling author, Decklan Stone. He is a man largely withdrawn from the world following the tragic death of his young wife 27 years earlier. Adele ventures to the writer's remote, private-island home in the beautiful San Juan Islands, and there begins a journey of dangerous discovery that will have her scrambling to unravel a mystery far more shocking and deadly than she could have ever imagined.
The writer is a Kindle Scout winner and the first installment of the ongoing and highly popular San Juan Islands Mystery series.

"Time."
On the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of a very successful novel, a young student journalist is invited to interview the author, the first person allowed to do so since the death of his wife over twenty five years before. Decklan Stone had become a recluse, still grieving the wife many believed he had, in fact, murdered, and he lived on a beautiful private island in the San Juan Islands accessible only by boat.
Excited and intrigued as to why she should have been granted an interview with the otherwise inaccessible author, Adele Plank finds herself drawn to this pleasant and attractive man and the mystery behind the death of his wife.
The islands sound idyllic, especially if the reader likes boats, the mystery grows slowly and the writing is simple and enjoyable. Similarly, Maria McCann's narration is clear, well modulated and pleasant without being inspired: a perfectly adequate fit for the book itself.
My thanks to th rights holder of The Writer who, after my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy via Free Audiobook Codes. The book was enjoyable and easy to read although the first of the two epilogue was over long and became maudlin, reducing my star rating to four.
