business disaster on scale with enron

a lot of reviews seem to think the author made the book too much about themselves but this is unfair, the references to the author's own experience are largely to do with the insanity that was the dot com bubble and how AOL had become so heavily valued because of it.

I bought this book bases on the fall of wcw and constant references to this merger and it's chaos by those involved with that, wanting to learn more about what went wrong. I found out the disaster was bigger that I thought

I've listened to it several times and you basically learn a lot about how not to do a merger and how time Warner made a lot of the mistakes they would make in the AOL merger in a previous merger between time and Warner.

the book talks about the chaos, the attempts to steady the ship and how the so called buying party ended up being routed by the purchased one and why.

you learn of how each department largely kept to themselves and ruined the chance at using new partners systems to make both more profitable.

this merger should of made both stronger buy largely due to those involved weakened both.
