Journalist, presenter, broadcaster, husband, father, vigorous all-rounder – Alan Partridge – a man with a fascinating past and an amazing future. Story
In the olden days, people used to learn about things from encyclopedias. And that was really good, because you could read it, and learn it, then you could stop worrying about thinking. But now, with the Internet and more people and science and research, there's just too much knowledge - more every year - and it's overwhelming. So, after years of asking the big questions - like 'what did people do before evolution?' and 'what is clocks?' - intrepid reporter and visionary philosopher Philomena Cunk is bringing the encyclopedia back.

In this special audio edition of How to Be a Man, you’ll hear from the horsie’s mouth how to be a proper god amongst men. You’ll learn how to boss a job interview - remember, the eyes are the windows to the soul, which is why you should avoid eye contact at all costs. You don’t want them looking into your disgustingly dirty soul. I also share some chirpising tekkers, such as my new style, ‘7 down, 1 up,’ where you viciously insult the lady seven times and then give her one compliment.

In Alan Partridge: Nomad, Alan dons his boots, windcheater and scarf and embarks on an odyssey through a place he once knew - it's called Britain - intent on completing a journey of immense personal significance. Diarising his ramble in the form of a 'journey journal', Alan details the people and places he encounters, ruminates on matters large and small and, on a final leg fraught with danger, becomes not a man (because he was one to start off with) but a better, more inspiring example of a man.

Steve Coogan was born and raised in Manchester in the 1960s, the fourth of six children. From an early age, he entertained his family with impressions and was often told he should "be on the telly". Failing to get into any of the London-based drama schools, he accepted a place at Manchester Polytechnic School of Theatre and before graduating had been given his first break as a voice artist on the satirical puppet show Spitting Image. The late '80s and early '90s saw Coogan developing characters.

Where do comedians come from? Why is it that one person is a funny bloke down the pub while another actually makes a living by standing up in front of an audience telling jokes? And where does all that material come from? Well, young Lee McKillop used to wonder that too. Growing up in his parents’ pub, small and wiry in a world of bigger and chunkier specimens, Lee quickly learned that cracking jokes was a way to get attention.

Nowadays, the world is full of people trying to tell us things. So much so that we have taught our brains not to pay much attention. After all, click the mouse, tap the screen, flick the channel and it’s on to the next thing. But Dave Gorman thinks it’s time to have a closer look, to find out how much nonsense we tacitly accept. Suspicious adverts, baffling newspaper headlines, fake twitter, endless cat videos, insane TV shows where the presenters ask the same questions over and over.

Summary
Listen up chumps, basically the Vicar asked us to edit the parish newsletter this month, we weren't gonna do it at first cos the vicar said 'I want you to channel your energy into doing something creative', which he knows brings back Kurtan's PTSD cos our old woodwork teacher Mr Perkins used to say it to him all the time, and when Kurtan actually DID channel his energy into something creative he managed to sand down some MDF to make a back scratcher and Darren Lacey pointed at it and laughed and called it an 'abomination to woodwork', which made Kurtan throw a chair across the room in rage and one of the chair legs hit Rob Robinson and left a dent in his forehead.
So we decided to write this newsletter cos people need to the know the REAL s--t that goes down in our village. It ain't just fetes and duck races you know - it's proper f--ked up.
All the best,
Kerry and Kurtan
PS. Kurtan wants to make it clear that although this newsletter is in book format it does not make him any of the following:
Book Worm
Book bummer
Boffin
Nerd alert
The lion, the witch and the book worm
PPS. If you don't buy this newsletter that's fine, but we are getting a percent of the profits to donate to the Kerry Mucklowe eating fund, so if you don't buy it I'll basically starve. Which is fine if your conscience can deal with that utter headf--k.
PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying reference material will be available in your Library section along with the audio on our desktop site.

Brilliant.
I suspect I’m not obviously in the category that this series was intended for but I have been hooked since day one of This Country. This extra dimension to the stories is very welcome because I am sorely missing the series and the characters, and anything that keeps the thing alive is most enjoyable. Despite the ‘effing and jeffing’ it all sits fabulously in its context and the characters are extremely well observed and tenderly drawn. Some of the scenarios, despite being a bit far-fetched occasionally, are very touching because of the ring of truth behind them. I think this whole creation is very clever and I sincerely hope there will be more of it very soon.
