About this listen
Wake up and reclaim your one wild and precious life. New York Times best-selling author Sarah Wilson shows you how in this radical spiritual guidebook, the book we need now!
From the New York Times best-selling author of First, We Make the Beast Beautiful.
We live in truly overwhelming times. The climate crisis, the pandemic, AI advances, conspiracy theories, political polarization, and the rest has left many of us in a state of "spiritual PTSD", feeling disconnected from one another, our values, and our joy.
In this radical spiritual guidebook, New York Times best-selling author Sarah Wilson puts on her backpack and spends three years hiking around the world—in Jordan, Cornwall, the Lake District, the Australian Outback, Japan, the Sierra Nevada, and beyond—to find a path through it all.
She follows in the footsteps of Nietzsche, Wordsworth, and other favorite poets and thinkers, venturing deeper into nature, going to "spiritual edges" and meeting monks, lovers, and renegades along the way. And she emerges with a blueprint for living a wilder, more connected life, and one that must just save our precious life on this planet.

"I've encountered no other book that articulates with so much passion or clarity the unique feeling of this moment in history. This One Wild and Precious Life is the ideal guidebook for our long overdue journey back to nature, to each other, and to sanity in the deepest sense of the word." (Oliver Burkeman journalist and author of Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals)
"A brilliantly raw book that reveals the truth of what really matters." (Fearne Cotton broadcaster, presenter, and author of Bigger than Us: The Power of Finding Meaning in a Messy World)

Excellent read, very thought provoking
Excellent book. It reflects my feelings and concerns about the state of the world and us and it does make me feel more connected in that it is not just me overthinking it or being an outlier in my views. Sarah has done so much research and interviewing and reading for the book and has set out so much beautiful poetry and quotes and references to thought leaders that it’s both educational and beautiful to read.

Just didn't like the narration
I disliked the narrators style. Very difficult to listen to. It sounded condescending, harsh and superior.
