About this listen
If you want to discover the captivating life of Tiberius, then pay attention....
Compared with the preceding rulers, Julius Caesar and Augustus, the name does not ring out with the same fame and pomposity. Shakespeare wrote no plays about Tiberius; his name does not echo in the history books with the same awe-inspiring prominence. Even his successors, Caligula and Nero, are more famous than he was. In fact, Tiberius can hardly be called famous at all. History knows him more for his infamy.
Tiberius is remembered, if he is remembered at all, for his bad behavior. He spent much of his rule on a Greek island surrounded by every pleasure that his diseased flesh could dream of, abandoning his empire to scandal and intrigue. He is a great villain of Roman history.
In Tiberius: A Captivating Guide to the Life of Ancient Rome's Second Emperor and How He Ruled the Roman Empire, you will discover topics such as:
- Before the Emperors
- Born into Turmoil
- The Eye of the Emperor
- In the Shadow of Augustus
- First Conquest
- Forced Marriage
- Rock Bottom
- Ascension
- A Slippery Slope to Capri
- The Last Javelin
- And Much, Much More!

History of the Roman Empire
This is a good audible for someone who knows little about the Roman Empire. It describes this history through a biography of Tiberius rulers. Since the audiobook covers a broad topic, there is very little detail given,

All as expected!
On beginning this I got myself thinking that it must be expected to learn for all aspiring or actual heads of state, and senior military secret operatives, and must have been so for some time.

A man of many faces.
It is difficult to find a more tragic ruler, and a more diverse in action and mood. Incredibly capable when he wanted to, vicious and cruel, yet such a dedicated and effective man when he put he heart to it. Both as soldier, bureaucrat, and ruler.
I like how the book gives an atleast somewhat sympathetic view on him. A tragic story, and during his life his heart is broken 3 times, from loss. A very underrated historical figure.

Overall, a very interesting history audible.
Friendly for a history. Loads of characters and gossipy details. Special leaning against Tiberius and for Germanicus.

Under Tiberius
The infamous Emperor of Rome in the first century. Tiberius is a corrupt criminal of a leader who is seen as a god thanks to the clever speech-writing.

Regarding Captivating History
The historical truth, the depth of feeling, makes you feel as if you are there. You are not just learning black words on an emotionless. You are there, seeing everything as it opens with your own eyes; feeling everything the writer felt with own heart. There is a scene, to the end, that made me blow and then tear up.
