Summary
In the latest book in the widely beloved No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series, Precious Ramotswe takes on a case for a childhood acquaintance, but her inquiries will require an even more delicate touch than usual.
Mma Ramotswe reconnects with an old friend who has been having problems with her daughter. Though Precious feels compelled to lend a hand, she discovers that getting involved in family affairs is always a delicate proposition.
Mr. J. L. B. Matekoni finds himself embroiled in familial drama as well when one of his clients asks for help evicting an unwanted houseguest who turns out to be the man's own brother. Elsewhere, Charlie and Fanwell are also involved in tricky matters of the heart, as Queenie-Queenie, Charlie's girlfriend, seems to have transferred her affections to Fanwell. It's up to Mma Makutsi to set things right, but she may be be too distracted by her nemesis Violet Sephotho, who has somehow been appointed to the board of a charity. What is Violet up to now?
As all of these mysteries are unravelled, Mma Ramotswe and the entire No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency will be reminded of the value of tried-and-true wisdom - never judge a book by its cover.

Welcome back old friends
In times when we need somewhere to escape to where decency, gentleness and the better aspects of humanity hold sway, this series is a blessing. Keep them coming, Sandy!

Lovely, as ever.
Storyline somehow not as interesting as usual - but lovely to hear the development of Charlie’s character and I took real pleasure in his happy ending. Adjoa Andoh brought all the characters to life brilliantly as always. I would willingly listen to anything she narrates.

The story continues.....
Full of observations on the diverse behaviour of human beings. I
found it amusing in places and laughed out loud.

Sigh…..
It’s so good that Charlie is a happy young man. He deserves it. I always enjoy listening to these books.

Summary of book in "Book Details" is incorrect
Overall I enjoyed this book, but as a previous review said over a year ago, the summary given on audible is incorrect.
"Mr. J. L. "
None of this happens in this book. As the previous reviewer said, it does mean that there's a feeling you're missing something, until you realise it's a mistake.

The Voice.
Really enjoy Alexander McCall Smith's books including the Ladys Detective Agency series.
What spoils it for me is the reading, supposedly mimicking Africans, the Adjoa Andoh thinks necessary. I have met a lot of Africans in Africa, various countries. None of them speak in that exaggerated screeched manners. It just spoils the listening experience. Took away from my enjoyment of the book.
