About this listen
What lies buried in a hoarder's house - precious treasure or ghastly secrets? One moment of misguided generosity throws estate sale organizer Audrey Nealon's life into turmoil. She loses a client's money, cripples her budding romance, and witnesses a murder. Strapped for cash, she accepts a questionable project: clearing out the home of a mentally ill hoarder who may have hidden valuable Civil War letters. What really lies at the bottom of 20 years' worth of collected buttons and dolls and stuffed owls and atlases? As Audrey digs through the hoarder's obsessions, she unleashes a vengeful response from all sides. The house has destroyed lives in the past. Will Audrey and those she loves - her friends, her father, and even her dog - be its next victims? As the final twist reveals, secrets can remain buried, but they never disappear.

Treasure of Darkness
I loved the book one in the series and I am glad to say this one does not disappoint. We get to see the whole crew (that we first met in the first novel) and get a deeper pov.
There is a mystery but it is not a murder as such. However, the same technique is used to find out who the culprit is. There are other subplots in this one but they are linked in some way.
My only negative is that the main character really annoyed me when it came to her judgment of other characters in the book. I honestly felt like strangling her at times but other then this it is a great listen which is full of suspense and tension.
Would recommend reading/listening to the first book because you get a better understanding why the characters act the way they do.
Would highly recommend it.

Enjoyed this book as much as the first one I listened to. Was a little disappointed that the 3rd book was not to be found.

Mystery, Crime and Family Drama.
The company of regular characters are developing nicely in the series. The interplay is wonderful. Audrey cannot resist a mystery which always develop into plot lines with lots of twists and turns. Our central characters also have their own turmoils in their private life. The writing is wonderful with a great narrator. So much is happening it becomes unputdownable. There are light touches interspersed between the drama. Highly enjoyable.

I am loving this series
Who was your favorite character and why?
I love all the characters. They are all normal and relate-able which makes their everyday dramas that bit more realistic and enjoyable. If I had to choose one though it would be Jill. She is a colourful character and I love the banter and arguments between her and Tai.
Have you listened to any of Janelle Tedesco’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I listened to book one in the series and it was great too. What stood out for me in this production were the various accents the narrator performed. They sounded very authentic and I could really picture the characters who were speaking.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed the first book in the series and this second book was even better. I liked the little bit of romantic drama as much as the mystery.
The story line was well thought out and exciting. I loved that the characters had to deal with intrigue and drama in each of the two estate sales. Audrey certainly knows how to attract trouble. Luckily she has a fantastic group of friends to help.

What an excellent book - well written, beautifully narrated, great characters, two simple but very effective plot lines set in a very convincing back story. Sheer delight.
The story focuses around Audrey, a young woman who runs her own house clearance sale business, and her two employee friends, Ty and Jill. Things have not been going well for Audrey recently but finally seem to be looking up when, totally unexpectedly, the good name of her company is called into question when she is deemed to have (albeit inadvertently) broken a contract and lost a large sum of her client's money. With no other work forthcoming, she reluctantly agrees to help partially clear the about to be condemned house of an obsessive horder whilst trying to get back the lost money of her former client. Meanwhile her personal life begins to fall apart as already conflicting feelings for a local police investigator are increasingly confused as he, too, is involved with her in the pursuit of a man responsible for death of a teenager.
Very carefully constructed and told in the first person by Audrey, this book never once feels unrealistic or improbable. The book is visual, almost tactile at times. The main protagonists all have a life of their own and are completely three dimensional and solid, being able to surprise whilst still staying in character. Even the minor players are well drawn. This verisimilitude is enhanced by the marvellous Janelle Tedesco, who not only takes on the personality of Audrey herself, adding depth and feeling by her reading, but also convincingly voices all of the other characters, giving each their own distinct lives. Her performance is a pleasure to hear, never abrasive to the ear but always well modulated and clearly delivered. And always perfectly fitting the text. Superb.
As the story progresses, the reader is increasingly drawn into the growing mystery surrounding the background of the old horder and the house he has so packed with his acquisitions as well as the desperate search for the stolen money. But the ending still comes as a surprise.
My thanks to the right's holder who gifted me Treasure of Darkness, via Audiobook Boom. It is not an all action book but is never, ever dull, with continuous gentle excitements. I loved it. This is the second story in the series but completely stand alone. I look forward to the next and, whilst waiting for it to be published, intend to go back to the first in the Palmyrton Estate Sale Mystery series, which I have not yet read/heard, and enjoy another treasure of a story.
Highly recommended.

Even better than the first book...
Where does Treasure of Darkness rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I like a lot of audiobooks, but this is one of the best in this genre I have listened to.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Treasure of Darkness?
It was interesting that one person in the book is a hoarder, and how one of
the characters knew how to handle him and his things...
What about Janelle Tedesco’s performance did you like?
I don't know, I just like it a lot...
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I wanted to know how it ended.
Any additional comments?
I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I got to know the characters better in this book. I have to read the next one soon... =)
