Summary

Tribulation is a twisted mystery about an end-of-days religious cult manipulating space and traveling across planes of existence on electricity and radio signals. Cult members willingly accept seven brutal years of torture, known as their “tribulation,” to atone for their earthly sins and come out on the other side saved (or thoroughly brainwashed?). The hero of this thriller, Stacy Carlson, must uncover the mystery of the Tribulation cult after her husband Greg is kidnapped by its leader, Brother Elijah (Josh Charles), through a bizarre AM radio broadcast. Greg’s disappearance leads Stacy into this world of zealots, skeptical law enforcement, and a former rock star turned conspiracy radio host, Reid Singer. Stacy and Reid team up to uncover the truth about the otherworldly religious mythology before them. Will Stacy find her husband and bring down the cult? All will be revealed by the end of Tribulation.

Tribulation comes alive with immersive sound design and stellar multi-cast performance.

Note: Tribulation contains adult language and auditory depictions of violence.

I really love this. Have listened to it over and over. It's disturbingly creepy and really well read.

WHAT AUDIBLE DOES BEST

Once again a cracking, tough and intense drama from Audible. Be warned this is very much an adult drama but it's great to listen to what I feel is the audio version of original content from premium streaming services, Netflix, amazon, etc. It treats it's listeners with respect and takes for granted your intelligence and confident enough to not have to patronise. Great listen, highly recommended.

Gripping stuff. Very atmospheric. Don't usually go for this kind of stories, but this one was very good. Would recommend.

Refreshing Story

This was great. A refreshing story, felt really original. I felt like it had a constant tension and element of mystery to it. Excellent to have content like this included in the plus catalogue.

Enjoyable audio drama

I enjoyed this a lot. The story was engaging and the use of sound was excellent throughout. Not a soothing bedtime listen, ideal for staying awake during a long journey. Some of the performances are a bit over-wrought, and there's quite a bit of screaming, but there's also some really imaginative use of the format.

You Will Never View Radios the Same Way!

A very interesting and clever conception which religious fanaticism combined with advanced radio communications! No matter how cults are dressed up their true nature never changes. They exist tinrmlower the few and enslave the many! Praise be!

Loved it!! Need more!

Loved it - had a great story and I was imagining the whole thing as it went along - gruesome and anxiety inducing with comedy skits added in to ease the intensity.

I would love to see this as a Fargo-esque TV series, with the “Frequency” animated like a graphic novel.

Prime Video pls make this! (and lmk if you need extras lol)

Fitting title!

Started off really good, love a good mystery! But then it lost me almost completely. So so many characters, some brought in with little to no explanation at times and some with multiple identities/names/voices. The sound effects were extremely overwhelming and the sounds of torture weren't exactly what I called 'pleasant listening'. It was very well dramatised, the voice actors very were good, but there so much to follow, and it really felt like it was dragging by the end. With many twists and turns, developments to the story line, and some aspects that were hard to understand, it's a brilliant concept, there was just too much of it!
