About this listen
Kurt Vonnegut Jr. (1922-2007) was a prolific and genre-bending American novelist known for works blending satire, black comedy, and science fiction, such as Slaughterhouse-Five (1969), Cat's Cradle (1963), and Breakfast of Champions (1973).
These two short works, "The Big Trip Up Yonder" and "2BR02B", are science fiction tales originally published in the magazines Galaxy Science Fiction and If: Worlds of Science Fiction in 1959 and 1962.

"...the mournful problem of life."
Was Two by Vonnegut: The Big Trip Up Yonder and 2BR02B worth the listening time?
Two short futuristic stories by Vonnegut that can, individually be tucked into a limited time listening period and enjoyed in full. Neither paint a particularly appealing picture of possible life to come despite the promise of longevity. In fact, there in lies the problem: with finite space and ever increasing population something has to give
Big Trip Up Yonder is amusing, 2BR02B more poignant but both are resonant with desperation. No happy futures here despite the conquest of poverty, old age and hunger. Vonnegut's writing can always delighted, though, with enjoyable dialogue and simple expressions such as, "Good gravy, no!"
Kitty Hendrix's reading is clear and she voices the characters well although it did seem a little strange that a female narrator should be.chosen to voice stories with predominantly male characters. Perhaps this is to emphasise the lighter, sardonic look into future misery.
I am grateful to the right's holder for gifting me a copy of this book via Audiobook Boom. Worth a listen - it doesn't take long. And despite everything, it is quite fun.

Enjoyable Performance by Kitty and solid writing
Would you try another book written by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. or narrated by Kitty Hendrix?
I would love to listen to another book read by Kitty. The idea's written by Kurt are interesting and Kitty's reading of it really adds to the story.
What other book might you compare Two by Vonnegut: The Big Trip Up Yonder and 2BR02B to, and why?
None I have read, I enjoyed the way it presented the veiw of a one out one in future due to overpopulation. Not many of the Sci Fi books I read address this issue. It is an interesting take on the future. I would have liked to have the background fleshed out a little more and I am not a huge for of short stories in general but these two are enjoyable.
What does Kitty Hendrix bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Just like listening to an RC Bray narration she really makes the book an enjoyable listening experience. I have had a few instances of poor narration and they can really bring down a book enjoyment.

Yes
Any additional comments?
This review is unbaised and honest however I should point out that the copy I listened to was provided by the narrator for review.
