Recommended - long listen
Great story, compelling and rich. However, the narrators pacing is way off, strange pauses, racing through sentences as though he was trying to match the pace of a rotor.
You sorta get used to it, but it’s quickly apparent that it’s got some rough edges

Good story let down by narrator
The story is very interesting and I enjoyed the content, gives a really good view of those times in Vietnam.
But sadly the narration is awful, as others have said. Lifeless voice interpretations, raging through some sentences and weird pauses throughout I had to keep checking the book was still playing.
Poor quality reading and production, Audible why do you endorse this?
I’d just physically read the book instead

Bad narration
The book is amazing, the story is incredible and very interesting , but...
The voice of the narrator and him changing his voice to show different characters is good, but there are other annoying things. You hear mouse clicks in the background, smacking lips, a lot o "mouth sounds", in a couple of places the narrator stutters, there are pauses in narration, I even thought that I heard the narrator eating or swallowing. It was hard to listen sometimes, I could not focus completely, especially those mouse clicks were annoying.
This is a book which I will not listen again.
