The Soldiers of the Solar Revolution claim life under SynCorp is slavery cloaked in comfort. They launch their rebellion, targeting the pillars of corporate production: Sabotaging refineries on Mars, shattering Callisto’s orbital ring. Meanwhile, brutal pirates siphon off Company resources in the Belt, and hackers tap into citizens’ implants, addicting them to fantasies shaped from their own dreams.

slow start but well worth the patience left me wanting more Fisher particularly reminds me of Miller from the expanse

Never let truth get in the way of justice.
An exceptionally good first book in the new SynCorp Saga which promises to become even better. Told from various perspectives including one in the first person - that of Stacks Fisher, previously met in the superb Optional Retirement P!an -the reader is introduced to the unexpected breaking of the Syncorps supremacy, and the five leaders who, between them, ruled the solar wor!ds. Great story telling, well written, with cafefu!my characterized protagonists, the book also has a fine narrator in Branson Pinchet. His pleasant sounding voice is well modulated, adapts freely to give individual and distinctive voicing to the numerous characters and is constantly drawing in the reader for more. His is an excellent melding of voice and text, well perfkrmed.

This is one of those few books for which I would like to award a bonus star for excellence and I personally am awaiting the next in the series with great anticipation.
Recommended most highly to all who enjoy S.F. and space adventure.

A gritty noir sci-fi
I recieved a review copy of this book. The world depicted is gritty in its realism. The characters are interesting and story gripping. A very good and interesting book with a well chosen narrator.
One note is that there is an editing issue in one of the early chapters, but the issue is minor and doesn't take away from the story.

Opens with a bang!
Good story - it opens with a bang; quite literally, the first thing that happens is an explosion. Plot and counter-plot, good guys and bad guys (and you're never totally sure who is which) and long enough to be a good read whilst not being so long that it's overcooked. I enjoyed it and I have Book 2 in my library to read later.

Slow boiler
It took me a little while to get into this book, the first hour was a little too slow for me with scene setting etc. But once I got past that it turned out to be a good book.

Pulp fiction in space
This book lived up to the billing of Space Opera Noir. It involved the interrelationship of 5 corporate organizations as someone tries to take them down and dismantle the entire solar infrastructure.
The book is gritty, as well as humorous as it details each of the characters.
It is well written and easy to listen to. The narrator does and outstanding job.

Took a while to get going
This one was a bit of a mixed bag, probably due to the nature of its dual authorship, making it hard to get into at first.
It switches back and forth between "the little people" at the bottom of the pile, with a lot of character to each character, and boardroom chatter between the people at the top of the pile, which is very flat, somewhat clichéd, and cold to begin with. It made it hard to get into the story, with a lot of corporate intrigue at the start, but it does eventually warm up once they get into more personal interactions as the story develops, alongside the stories of the victims of this society.
I will probably complete the series at some point in the future, though I do have an extensive backlog of "unread" audiobooks to get through!
