About this listen
How bad can a blind date with a vampire really be? The last thing Ryan Harding needs is his brother setting him up on dates with random women. Yes, he’s been avoiding relationships and burying himself in work, but come on, a blind date? Surely things aren’t that desperate. Still…the cute blonde at the bar is pretty amazing. Kind of sexy as hell. Why did he think a blind date was so bad again?Grace Stanhope has no interest in dating mortals, but she owes her best friend one hell of a favor. A blind date with a human can’t be all that bad right? She might even have a nice time…but oh god is he three of her most favorite things? Tall, dark, AND handsome!?! Before the night is through, sparks fly, spells are cast, and this blind date just might have a bite to it…
Note: This story is a complete standalone novella.

Absolute audio perfection in just 3 hours!!!!
I was actually staggered by how good this is and I really shouldn't have been. After all look at what we have here a dual narration project for two of my absolute favourite, can do no wrong in my eyes, narrators of Stella Hunter and J.F Harding and you give them a beautiful little vampire/mortal fated mates novella by Lauren Smith.....its just pure perfection. There isn't another word for it. So, quick stats its a dual narration, vampire/human, fated mates, with definitely some heat and spice but probably toward the lower end of the scale.
Lauren Smith has fast become one of my forever authors, meaning her work just speaks to me on a soul deep level because she is that freaking great as a writer, that I will literally follow her forever now and read everything she creates. It is mind blowing the skill she displays in this one to craft what is basically an epic love story dealing with big philosophical issues like love vs obsession, what it means to be human, when is it vampiric thrall or is it cosmic fated love and the age old question of how far would you go for the one you love. All topped off with a epic finale that will rip your heart out as she pulls off her very own Amber Spyglass style heartache situation (if you know you know) but that's as far as I'll go without spoiling it.
All as I say in just THREE HOURS!!! That's just insanely genius writing. I loved Grace and Ryan so much and it all starts with a wonderful blind date and the sparkling banter is divine that you just instantly believe the connection these two have and without that this whole story wouldn't work but it really really does.
The closest thing I would say that kind of rivals this is if you liked (sorry LOVED) My Soul to Take by Meg Anne, also performed by this amazing duo, then you will adore this one. It has very similar vibes and tackles some of the same themes but in very different ways. Just buy them both, trust me.
As for the performances.......well I am as I said besotted with this duo and admittedly would listen to them perform anything. But give them both a chance to perform something like this and let their acting skills flex....and I am in swoon country. Stella Hunter, oh my god she just went full on seduction mode with her male voices that basically I was very much in her thrall. Its not really a surprise, you need to check out her solo work because it is HOT. But it was the drama of Chapter 7 that completely flawed me and she had me in tears with her incredible performance.
Matched perfectly by J.F Harding, which is why they work so well together as a pair and I just can't get enough of them, who I'm gonna say it does some excellent Brit accent work in this one. They both do of course but while Stella is flawless now, J.F I would say is not far behind so I claim them both as honorary Brits! Besides that he is once again showing off his unique talent for character work and drawing out vulnerability and it was his turn to make me cry in Chapter 9.
It's just sublime, I cannot rave about this enough, its by far one of the best things I have listened to this year.
