About this listen
Vaz is the story of Vaz Gettnor, a socially impaired yet scientifically brilliant man. Despite his inability to relate to others, Lisanne married him in admiration of what she perceived as shy intelligence. However, she's been disappointed by the way he's settled for working as no more than a glorified lab tech with a low salary.
Adding to their problems, Vaz and Lisanne have two teenagers who are typically surly and embarrassed by their parents, but whom they want to send to college - if only they can find the money. When Vaz is fired from his job as a researcher but then discovers a means to achieve cold fusion, a technology that could solve the energy crisis and their financial difficulties, virtually no one believes him, least of all his family. In fact the only people who do believe are the ones who are trying to steal the technology from him....

An enjoyable, optomistic tale
The narration is solid, clear and the narrator has good intonation, keeping the story engaging. The story is fun without being overly detailed regarding the major facets of the story (Autism, Nuclear Fusion, family dynamics etc) Overall, a nice easy listen. Perfect for going to sleep to

Belter!
I was amazed at this story - good storyline, engaging characters, well narrated. Much, much better than I anticipated.
Really surprised that it is bundled with membership, I'll be on the lookout for more by this author.

Mysogenistic fantasy
The real hero is the wife who puts up with the lead character who is a shocking interpretation of neurodiversity and being a asshole. Intelligent people with spectrum disorders are perfectly capable of learning to communicate.
Clearly targeted towards introverted virgin male geeks, the science isn’t all that hard.
Back to Andy Weir for me.
