It is barely a crime - just the theft of a single pack of gum. But each crime that follows is bigger, and each accompanying note promises the next crime will be even worse. When FBI Special Agent Dagny Gray is asked to investigate the gum thief’s fifth crime, a bank robbery, it seems like an intriguing case. Having gone through all Harry Bosch stories in no-time, I realised I had to get my hands on more by Michael Connelly. The book is impossible to put down, and kept me going and going. A book I highly recommend.

A WORTHY FEMALE
I always find it interesting when an author writes from the perspective of the opposite sex. Michael Connelly does this really well. His heroines, both Cassie in this book and Renee Ballard in other books are a joy to follow. This is one of my favourite books...I love Bosch but really enjoyed the female perspective.
Cassie arrives fully formed but damaged by the events in her life. I enjoyed her daring and street smarts, immaculate planning where something goes wrong...and the story was full of twists...some predictable but most were unexpected. The reader did a good job and I enjoyed the story.
Please Mr. Connelly...write a sequel! I want to know what Cassie did next.

Not good...
Worst Connelly I've listened to. Liked all the others, prefer the legals to the Bosch series but they're ok.
This was clumsy, repetitive and padded.
Not a single endearing character, weak story.
The over written narrative of people unlocking doors or doing any simple task was more and more annoying as the book went on.
If everyone in every scene had just 'entered' a room it would have been 5 chapters shorter.
