Summary

Escaping from danger has long been the plight of Luca Molinari. He fled Naples as a stowaway on a freighter bound for America to avoid being charged for an accidental homicide. Signing on as a sailor aboard a whaler bound for Arctic waters, he remained the sole sailor remaining with his ship during the 1871 whaling disaster. He only manages to survive sure death trapped on a drifting ice cake when rescued by Tulok, leader of an Eskimo band, where he meets and falls in love with the beautiful Anjij.

Pursuing his dream, Luca returns to San Francisco and establishes a successful vineyard in the developing Napa Valley. However, the great surprise of his life is yet to come—a surprise that will change his life and his legacy forever.
