thoroughly enjoyed the coming together of all in this instalment.

Another great adventure!

The book begins with a character previously only mentioned: Harmon’s mother Mary Catherine Waite. She has completed her secret assignment for Abaddon to get information on Asmodeus by working in his mansion as teacher, but the end of her contract doesn’t go quite as planned...
What follows is another action packed adventure, which sees Harmon reunited with his mother; facing demons, fallen angels and other evil with her, his father, his trusted team of friends and more new allies by his side.

Once again John interweaves myth, fantasy and religious lore into a tale full of suspense, battles, drama and humour.

I love that Harmon’s mother and father play major parts and Molly is back in the game. The new characters, good and evil are great, with some additional human players in the mix. Though is Roberts, the butler Harmon has inherited from Nobel, a bit too much reminiscent of Batman’s Alfred? – Nah, it’s cool!

There is one part of the story, I’m not so sure about... and as usual, I can’t help myself, and have to mention it, so as in my last review:
spoiler alert: if you don’t want to know too much, don’t read between the lines of asterisks next.

I found it hard to believe that MC was not more suspicious about not sensing an aura in Gaius and investigating this further after returning to Harmon’s base. Despite all the distractions, it should have been a red flag!. Even Harmon and the team didn’t seem to question the missing soul light of the vampire, until it was too late.
It just seemed a bit uncharacteristically careless, at the same time I realise that it would have made it difficult for the story to work, if they had found out sooner that Gaius was a vampire.
With Bram Stoker’s Dracula being a childhood favourite having a vampire and soul-eating shadow monster in the mix is awesome, so I forgive John.

As with the previous books in the series this one can be read as standalone, but knowing the background to the character and their dynamics makes the read so much more enjoyable, so I’d highly recommend catching up on books 1-4 first.

My favourite narrator Dan Johnson still brings the adventure wonderfully to life and John told me one of the characters is based on him – and, now I’ve met him, it’s obvious - he is so cool - literally!

It's fast become one of my favorites.
you'd be crazy mot to get this series.
it's the easiest 5 ⭐ I've given.
