About this listen
“As if waking up from a nightmare, I thought, If I am going to be traumatized, I might as well be traumatized in Paris, right?”
Devastated by the unexpected end of her decades-long marriage, renowned spiritual teacher and intuitive guide Sonia Choquette undertook an equally unexpected move and relocated to Paris, the scene of many happy memories from her life as a student and young mother. Arriving in the aftermath of the Charlie Hebdo massacre, she found a Paris as traumatized by this unforeseen event as she had been by her divorce. Together, over the following years, she and the city she loves began a journey of healing that involved deep soul searching and acceptance of new, sometimes uncomfortable reality.
In this follow-up to Walking Home, Sonia shares her intimate thoughts and fears as well as the unique challenges of setting up a new life in a foreign land. From moving into a freezing, malodorous apartment to a more pleasant - yet haunted - flat across the Seine to her current light-filled home, Sonia shares how these changes parallel her inner transformation. Along the way, Sonia regales listeners with vivid stories of her unfortunate encounters with French hairdressers and beauticians, her adventures in French fashion, and her search for the perfect neighborhood café. Her companion throughout is the city of Paris - a character unto itself - which never ceases to fill her with wonder, surprise, and delight and provides her with the spiritual strength to succeed in establishing her new life.

Nice insights from Sonia
It starts off a little slow and sometimes repetitive, however towards the middle and end the whole story comes together and learnings and insights from Sonia come through. Being an expat myself, I could relate to alot of challenges Sonia experinced and also made me release to be more present in the city I call home now, as there are many adventures and stories to learn from it. I really enjoyed the book, despite it being a little slow at first, I do recommend it.

Soul soothing balm for crazy times
I’m late to the Sonia Choquette fan club. My goodness, I connected with this wonderful audiobook at a time when I was low and there was no hope. Lying in bed, nursing my wounds, listening to Sonia’s lovely and heart-full reading has given me life again and woke me up from a dark place. Thank you for your message here of hope. All these roadblocks are temporary and necessary in order to reconnect what matters! Lastly, being a fellow Libra, Sonia reminded me how important it is to embrace a Venusian life. It’s encoded in our soul! Many blessings!

LOVE the Book!
I'm relishing every word of this book at the moment. I admit, at first Sonia's voice wasn't what I expected *sorry, Sonia*, but soon enough Sonia charms you with her inflections and intonations as she recalls the mishaps and triumphs she and her daughter encounter. (I especially found amusing the 'luge' episode!) She comes across as humorous, endearing, and downright NICE like a friend for life would be.
I love it so much, I've recommended my mother purchase it. It reminded me of our 'adventures' when we too found ourselves at similar crossroads.
I highly recommend it.

A great human story based in fabulous Paris!
I love Sonia Choquette's books but this one is different. It is about her journey to healing after her divorce and the sometimes hilarious events in and all over the amazing city which is Paris. I laughed and I smiled at the very typical Parisian characters she meets and the adventures she had. I live abd work in France and share Sonia's frustration at some of the ridiculous French bureaucracy we must endure to live in the wonderful country. Well worth a read.

I just LOVE this book!!
I laughed so hard I cried (which was very embarrassing as I was on the train!) and then laughed more when I shared Sonia's account of her falling down the stairs in her apartment with my daughter and again when she shared her hairdressing and beauty experiences in Paris. It's such a lovely book and I could relate so much to her honest and vulnerable account of finding herself divorced and lonely as a mature woman. Sharing her healing journey while she tried to make a life for herself in Paris was both heartwarming and inspiring.

'Intuition'
I remain astounded that somebody with no self awareness and no common sense let alone intuition, can be regarded as a spiritual teacher. The 'accidental' mishaps she relates are entirely of her own making through stupidity and lack of research and planning. She has an unfortunate delivery and frequently mishponounshes (sic) words. The most annoying thing is her habit of chuckling at herself in the middle of words.
I thought I would learn interesting things about life in Paris. It didn't get better. Don't bother.
