Summary

At 29, Claire is full of the joys of life - that is, until her husband leaves her on the day she gives birth to her baby. With a broken heart, a beautiful newly born and an expanding mirror image, she decides to visit her eccentric family in Dublin. There she starts to feel better. So much better, in fact, that James is in for a surprise when he decides to slither back into her life.

Disappointed in this edit of a favourite book...

I love this story - one of Marian’s best. I first read it nearly 25 years ago. The narrator is great but I’m halfway through and am irrationally annoyed at the way the vocabulary has been Americanised! The book is set in Ireland and London. We don’t have sidewalks and diapers!!! Should have been left as it was!

Shallow and cliche- exactly what I was looking for

Quirky and unoriginal, exactly what you want from these sorts of books. Screw it, I enjoyed it. Narrator was very good.

Too American

Wish I had read the reviews before I purchased the book , a good book spoiled by too many Americanisms , eg subway for tube, diapers for nappies , apartment for flat etc . Given that book was set in Ireland and England the Americanisms became annoying. Not sure I’ll purchase any more in the series, which is a shame as I usually enjoy books by Marian Keyes

a light read

I got rathercirritatedxwithvthe central character in parts, and I predicted the outcome... but for a non taxing, light listen it did the job.

Good overall

Good overall and a great story, although the lead character is frustratingly idiotic which does grate on you

Wonderful narration!

The story was as basic as they come. But, the way it was written, and narrated, made a very bland and everyday situation, entertaining.

The narrator really made this story a pleasure to listen to. Excellent narration.

I agree with others that is was a shame there were American words for things.

There were a few sentences interrupted by bad audio and some crackling or clapping in chapter 40. A nice easy listen other than that.

Light hearted listening

The story line was pretty predictable but I enjoyed the family dynamics and how it all ended.

The narrator was great but in the last chapter there are some clicking sounds which were rather off putting but it didn't last long.

Excellent

The narrator is excellent. Funny and poignant story of a young woman’s life. Sad in places but I also laughed out loud! Highly recommend
