Kind to the patient and the caregiver

This audiobook is example of kindness during the tough times of looking after someone with dementia. It was packed with info, practical advice, and a whole lot of heart, helping me and my loved one every step of the way. What really hit home was how it paid attention to the little things—those small details that can make the journey a bit smoother for both the person with dementia and the caregiver. It taught me how to spot the signs, understand the stages, and keep us both safe with loads of useful resources. And it did all this while reminding me to take care of myself, too. Honestly, it's a must for anyone walking this challenging road. Just so kind and thoughtful through and through.

A Holistic Guide to Dementia Caregiving

As someone who shared the responsibility of caring for my mother, this book hit home for me. From the get go I realised that I was unprepared for the role of caregiver and so the chapter titled “Be Prepared” is particularly impactful.

Rieder's approach is grounded in his personal experience as a caregiver for his dad. This personal experience adds a degree of authenticity to the text as he was not just writing from theory. He covers a range of areas: the stages of dementia, effective communication, challenging behavior management, among others.

Anyone involved in caring for someone with dementia will find this book invaluable.
