About this listen
Newly available evidence shows that the CIA engaged in pervasive political meddling and paramilitary action in Congo during the 1960s - and that the local CIA station chief directly influenced the events that led to the death of Patrice Lumumba, the country's first democratically elected prime minister.

informative
it seems the CIA was constantly playing catchup with Russia, who had its claws in Africa way before the US understood the potential for natural and human resources.
that sounds like one badly informed foreign affairs policy.
looking back, considering how much money was wasted in the “catchup” game, military sponsorships and “diplomatic” bribery wasn’t the right way to get mass support. military focused organisations forget the humanitarian aspect, and pump money sometimes in the wrong place.
fast-forward to today, when AIDS is recognised officially, a strongly funded AIDS policy would have done better (lifespan, human resources, financial resources, immigration, foreign investments, and more on this track).

Worth a listen...
Short and worthwhile, but so much is missing! I suppose the truth which is widely known by Afrikans on the continent and in the diaspora will forever remain a mystery in public. Lumumba forever!!!

Interesting. Misleading. Informative.
Lots of good background and poor conclusions.
It's written from an American perspective entirely, and is therefore at best an arse covering article. Obviously.
