Summary

He saved my heart. She owns my soul.

From USA Today best-selling author Claudia Burgoa comes the highly anticipated conclusion to The Downfall of Us Duet.

The first time I saw her, I had a feeling about her.

It was the hypnotizing indigo eyes. Her smile. Her.

I find myself drawn to her music. I can’t stop thinking about her voice. I’m captivated by her beauty. I don’t understand the bond between us. Also, I belong to someone else.

He put me together when I was broken. He loved me when I couldn’t stand on my own two feet. We fought for our freedom. But still, I feel incomplete. Piper Decker might own a piece of me. But Derek Hastings claimed me when I was broken. Can I belong to two people? Can we coexist as one and find our forever?

When Forever Finds Us is a heartwrenching story of finding who you are before you can offer your heart.

Exceptional Story & Listen🎧 Gripping & Emotional!

This book is the exciting conclusion to the “Downfall of Us” duet, it picks up where the “End of Me” left off and you need to read or listen to that first, not only is it a not to be missed story but that is where is all begins for Piper, Archer, Finn and Derek. Claudia Burgoa delivers an emotional and captivating story, a love story like no other, one that tugs on your heartstrings like no other. This is a complex and multi-layered story and all the pieces are falling into place, but that does not make them right. Piper realizes Archer is gone for good, she sees none of him in Finn, who is still trying to figure out who he is now that he is finding out where he came from and how he got to where he was. He does not understand why he is drawn to Piper and continues to struggle, and her leaving hits him hard, but she left him all the things from her life with Archer. Archer had done something similar which got her thru her hard times in the first book, but now it is his turn to see who Archer was and who Piper and Archer were together. Derek wants them both, Piper had kept her distance because of Archer, but now she was gone, leaving him with Finn. They do not know why she gave up on them, that it is a misunderstanding, but they are not going up on her. Besides the romance storylines, there are some action packed storylines with Finn, Derek and Seth, as well as members from the Organization, storylines from Covert Affairs in Finn’s POV, and he finally gets his revenge on his captor and his cartel. I loved how everything played out in this cleverly plotted story, there is plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and a steamy trifecta of a romance. Claudia Burgoa, thank you for this amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Jason Clarke, Maxine Mitchell and Lance Greenfield’s outstanding performance of bringing these characters to life continues. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I picture the characters to sound. You could hear how much heart they put into their performance as they capture all the character’s emotions and project them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Emotional Rollercoaster!

Piper finds herself not only dealing with a family situation, but she realizes that even though the man she loves is alive he isn’t the man she knew and the future they had planned is not longer possible.

Derek knows that he loves both Finn and Piper as he finds himself trying to be there for both of them determined for them to find a way to all be together despite the pain of the past.

Finn is struggling as he tries to balance the life he doesn’t remember with the new life he created and where he fits in both as well as when it comes to Piper and Finn.

They take us on an emotional rollercoaster that encompasses the past as well as the present as they fight for a future that will give all three of them what they need. The performance of the narrators is heartfelt which allows you to relate to the characters and all the angst they are going through

Amazing story!

I couldn't wait to start this book! After book one of the duet, I needed to know how it was all going to play out with these three. Claugia Burgoa picks up where we left off. Finn is struggling with the loss of his memory and the fact that he was Archer. Drawn to Piper, but not knowing why has him on edge. But his mission of destroying the cartel first must take precedence. Derek is by his side, still in love with Piper and coming to terms with his feelings for Finn. That leaves Piper. She has the toughest part, seeing the two men, obviously in love and auumptions that leave her making decisions that may not be in their best interest. What an emotional roller coaster! I love the interactions with the three, but seeing the reactions with the family is even more exciting. Getting to know Charles, seeing the St James's, Piper's parents and all the extended cousins give that true feeling of a Burgoa story. I was completely captivated by this story of true love, finding your new normal and all around heartfelt love. It's the perfect weekend duet!

Finishing out the narration is the incredible team of Maxine Mitchell, Lance Greenfield and Jason Clarke. It could not have been more perfectly cast. Each had their own perception of their character and it was spot on. Mitchell gives all the feels as Piper. She has so much to deal with, her past, her present, and her future. Clarke frustrates me with his stubbornness as Finn, but I could not help but love his broody self. He creates an endearing character that needs healing. And Greenfield. Derek is a tough one, as he is open at times and closed off at times. Greenfield nails his heart, his bravery, his strength. This is a fabulous listen and should not be missed!

Another amazing audiobook!!

Audiobook review: Narrated by Maxine Mitchell, Lance Greenfield and Jason Clarke
4.5 stars for story / 5 stars for performance

Once again, amazing conclusion to another epic duet by Claudia Burgoa. Finn/Archer has been in my mind throughout several of the past duets from this author and I feel immensely satisfied that his story was told so well. Derek's character was one of my favorites. His love of both Finn and Piper was so all encompassing and the patience he showed with both his love interests was refreshing to experience. Piper was amazing throughout. Her commitment to Archer and understanding towards Finn and his situation made her the ultimate FMC and I had the utmost respect for her in this story. Another beautiful written story.

The narration, once again, was EPIC. Maxine Mitchell can do no wrong! I had to keep reminding myself that this was not a duet style narration because her skill at differentiating between characters is top tier. Lance Greenfield and Jason Clarke were both amazing and brought so much emotion to Finn and Derek's characters. The audiobook was great and I'm so glad I experienced this story in this medium.

Piper & Derek & Archer/Finn Book 2

I absolutely loved book 1 in the duet but for me this one fell a bit short of what I was expecting.
8 years after Archer disappeared, Piper, Finn and Derek are all now aware of who each other is to one another. Of course there’s no such thing as coincidence as they are meant for each other so fate brought them together independently of what’s been going on in their lives since that ill fated mission in the Amazon.
I loved the mercenary/spy angle of the books and that’s what kept me hooked to the storyline but I also like my books with a good romance plot. The previous book showed us Archer, the loving, doting husband and the love letters/videos he left Piper in case of his death and I’ve been secretly rooting for Archer to come back. We have also witnessed the relationship Derek and Piper developed as colleagues and friends and how Piper struggled to grieve Archer and give Derek a chance. I struggled to see how Finn and Derek’s relationship developed emotionally as it was always a more physical or lustful relationship, specially from Finn’s perspective as he suffered a severe head injury that changed the way his brain works forever. I also feel the same way with the love relationship between all three. However, I also understand the book moves forward several months at a time so we don’t really see the development, we just know it’s there. Would I have liked to see more of this development? Yes!!! I feel it would have given the book that little romantic edge I was looking for and it would have felt less rushed.
In the end I was happy they all found their way to each other and were happy to live happily ever after.

Just like in the previous book, there’s not much else to say about the amazing job the narrators did in this book. Jason Clarke brings the best version of Finn and Archer to life; Lance Greenfield voices the strong and brave Derek, whilst Maxine Mitchell lends her voice to Piper, the amazing and kind hearted heroine both heroes love to love.

So Moving

I had to start listening to the second book in the duet the moment I’d finished the first.

I’m glad I chose to listen to the audio, because if I’d been reading I would’ve had to stop because of the tears in my eyes.

Another reason to listen to these books is because of the wonderful narrators, who bring the characters to life so well, Jason and Maxine are wonderful narrators, who I have listened to many times, and amongst my favourite and although I’ve only listened to a couple of books by Lance, I will be adding him to my list.

They brought such passion and depth to the characters. If I wasn’t already in love with the story, they would have swayed me with their emotional deliveries.

The story is one that pulls you in from the beginning, you can’t help but become embroiled in the lives of Piper and Archer, and feel for both of them. The introduction of Derek into the mix is wonderful. All three characters are complex and so different and yet the three complete each other I loved this story. I laughed and cried with them, admittedly, I cried more than I laughed, but I loved every minute. The chemistry shared between them was palpable and so well done. I recommend this book to any one who enjoys a good love story

Frustrating and angsty

What a whirlwind!
There is so much frustration as Fin struggles with his target and emotions.
Piper’s life is full of so many tumultuous emotions and moments, she is trying to heal while Fin & Derek are out on a mission, but she’s also grieving.
Derek is trying to navigate through his new life, his role in Fin’s life and Piper’s.

As they all struggle with their new reality, can they move forward and heal? Is there room for love in this new reality?
