Summary

As a medical examiner, Serena Hopkins is used to dealing with death. But that doesn't make it any easier when she's called to the eerie scene of a murder - especially when Serena realizes that she knows the victim. Nearly as unnerving is the presence of FBI agent Dominic Allen, her childhood crush. As evidence mounts and points to a serial killer with disturbingly familiar methods, Serena and Dominic must work to find a pattern and stop the killings before the murderer strikes again. And when Serena's own life is at stake, she must decide if the secret she has been keeping has put her next on the killer's hit list. Can she trust Dominic with the truth before it's too late?

Not believable and someone SACK the narrator

Not a bad story line,if a bit unbelievable.

Narrator needs to rewrite her CV…. She could not keep to the same voices from the first book. She made it. So the men sounded as if their testicles were clamped and the women sounded BUTCH and SIMPLE!!!

For me, as these days I have to listen rather than read due to issues with reading these days for long periods of time, though this series currently is a freebie with the Audible extra…I for sure would be disappointed at paying good money for this book…
The story has me gripped as in though you know who’s behind the hiring, I would like to know about the assassin/assassin’s and their reasoning for wanting to do this particular job, plus what went on that started all this in the first place.

Somebody edit out the narrator's snigger/laugh

Somebody please, please edit out the narrator's snigger/laugh. She does do the insane villains very convincingly though, with her creepy laugh and weird voices.

Being back the other narrator!

The story continues as strong as the first book. It's engaging and mostly very well written. It's a very good "Who's done it! I'm looking forward to finding out who the puppet master is, or is it puppet masters?

The only thing I really struggled with is the narrator. I firmly believe that male parts should be narrated by male voice actors and vice versa. The original voice actor surprisingly did a fairly good job, it's a pity I can't say the same for Ms Ellis. It was annoying the way Hunter ended up sounding like Goofy and towards the end I think she may have gotten Katie and Alexia's voices mixed up.

I'm guessing it's not an easy job to voice different characters solo, perhaps the authors should request that at least two actors cover the varied roles. This narrator has ruined a very good story with the way everyone just sounds so clunky, slow and just plain goofy.

My only other criticism is that I found myself rolling my eyes at the author's need to keep pointing out how beautiful the female characters are it's an unnecessary distraction along with the overly syrupy love affairs. I'm not disappointed by the lack of smut, ( a good author should be able to pen a novel without the need for explicit language ); but after the thousandth time of hearing about how beautiful or handsome the characters are it's really grating on my nerves.

I'm stealing myself for the final part and the author's need to over emphasise character physical traits; this all said Ms Eason's ace up her sleeve is the gripping storyline. Had the story not kept me continually trying to figure out who the real villains are, based solely on the narration, I would bypass the final instalment...but I really do want to discover who is behind it all.

PURE EASON!

I just LOVE this series! And this book is pure Lynette Eason!! Lots of intense drama, nail biting suspense, good story, solid characters, romance and some humor. Loved it!

The narrator was good, but to be honest, I preferred the narrator of the first book; she was just brilliant and it would have been excellent if the same narrator did all three books in the series.

I made the mistake of downloading book 3 before book 2 and even with that mistake, the story was still good and it did not diminish at all from being one book ahead.

Good story and best reader ever.

Always love Lynette Eason books. Story so riveting I can put up with the mushy stuff. The reader doesn't just read, she acts with many convincing accents

Great story pity about the narrator

The narrator is quite good at different women’s voices but dire with men’s - she makes them all sound slow and stupid which is just irritating. Really shouldn’t try do an English accent; she’s terrible at it! Such a pity as the storyline is great. Narrator lets it down in my opinion

Disturbing & disjointing to have switch narrators

Struggled to finish due to the disturbing, sadistic bent. Only redeaming thing in the book is that the main chatacters are Christians. The storyline is DRAGGED, trudged through these first TWO. ..so DREADING that I will need to compkete all four to get resolution...hate that there is NO CLOSURE with each novel. . .I know it's s scheme to sell books but I will NEVER start another series of novels from this Author!!! There are other Authors that keep your interest...that make you want the next book, WITHOUT being so gruesome and without holding you hostage! (ie Dee Henderson & Dani Pettrey)
TO TOP OFF THE IRRITATION...in these Audible books, this series of Three EACH HAS A DIFFERENT NARRATOR...Each very different style...and without purpose...not AS one of the characters! NOT HAPPY WITH THIS SERIES...but I'm stubborn and want to finish what I've started...but I will not start another!
