About this listen
Every time a lad came fowling on the St Kilda stacs, he went home less of a boy and more of a man. If he went home at all, that is....
In the summer of 1727, a group of men and boys are put ashore on a remote sea stac to harvest birds for food. No-one returns to collect them. Why? Surely nothing but the end of the world can explain why they have been abandoned to endure storms, starvation and terror. And how can they survive, housed in stone and imprisoned on every side by the ocean?

Perilous Tale of character and Strength
This ‘true’ story is as compelling as it is bleak.
The tale of Quilliam and his compatriots must overcome not only the elements, but each other to survive.
Told with heart and power... a deep story, which while requiring perseverance - is worth it in the end.

Swallows and Amazons meets The Lighthouse meets a Love Story!
Although this is not my usual genre, I thought as Angus King is narrating the story i’ll give it a go.
Based on a true story this is an addictive listen, almost every opportunity to ‘grab a chapter’ was taken.
A brilliant story made really believable by the Narration.

had me on the edge of my seat
great story and the narrator is really good to hear that fits perfectly into the ambience of the story. it's really interesting to think of human beings surviving that and since it's based off a true story too. very interesting read but I also so had Goosebumps and had to check behind me a couple of times because it gets scary realistically scary. good read.

Great narration, great prose.
Great narration, and the author has a wonderful way with words. It's like having a poem read to you for 7 hours. The story itself wasn't my cup of tea, I'm more into epic fantasy, but it's not a bad story either.
