When the battle moves to the heart of her village, Ilyenna looks into her enemy’s eyes and sees more than just cunning. There is also lust - lust for power and lust for her. She could escape. If she's willing to take the fae's impossible bargain. Dark magic in exchange for her soul. But she risks losing more than her soul. She would also lose Rone, the man she's been in secretly in love with for years. But as things heat up between Rone and Ilyenna, so does her captor's cruelty. Such a unique Witch story.
Any additional comments?
I've had this book, both on my shelf and on my kindle, for quite a while so when I got the chance to listen to the audio I jumped at it!
Brusenna lives with her mother deep in the woods. She knows what everyone calls her and knows that they fear her. She thinks she is nothing special and keeps to herself. Her life is quite sheltered, until another witch comes calling. Brusenna finds out exactly what it means to be a witch!
I loved Brusenna!! She is quite timid at the start but she finally finds the strength she needs to be who she is supposed to be. Senna knows next to nothing about Witches and has to learn as she goes but that doesn't stop her. She goes into the lions den knowing that she may not come out alive. She was so brave.
We then have Joshen, who is Sennas guardian and steadfast companion throughout. He was another amazing character. I loved seeing Joshen and Sennas relationship grow. It was so sweet.
There is a whole lot of characters in Witch Song and each was extremely well written and developed. Senna especially grew a lot throughout the story. We even get the bad guys POV at times, which added to the story.
Plot wise, it was fast paced and gripping. The world building and lore was fascinating and I loved the authors spin she put on the Witches. The Witches sing songs to cast their spells so there is no magic wands!! I loved that unique concept. The Witches can sing to the wind, earth, fire etc and there are songs to heal and pretty much do everything which Senna needs to learn because she can only do the basics.
Once I started listening to this, it was so hard to stop. The author grabbed me from the very first page and weaved a wonderful tale around me. From it's amazing characters to its beautifully written world, Witch Song is a must read. It's a magically captivating world and one I can't wait to jump back into!
I listened to the audio and loved it. Melissa Reizian Frank did a great job of bringing Senna to life. She really knows how to grab the reader. I will definitely be checking out more by her.

Great Teen & YA Paranormal Adventure
The author did an amazing job creating a unique world where witches have very important roles.
Brusenna has been sheltered by her mom and not taught about the witch's way. Her mom tried to keep her ignorant from the danger that looms but unfortunately all her mom did was leaving her untrained and vulnerable.
Witch hunters are after Brusenna because she is the last one. Brusenna must scape the Hunters and find Haven then she must succeed against the Dark Witch. She must succeed where all have failed.
Along her way she meets Joshen! He becomes her guardian. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow. She is so brave and tries to do everything on her own. Good thing Joshen doesn't give up easy!
Witches use their songs to control plants & wind. They need their voices and songs to cast spells.
There were some pretty stressful situations where her foes almost defeated her but she kept pushing forward. I was on the edge of my seat for most of this tale!
There are a lot of great characters in this book. This audiobook was hard to put down because I wanted to see what happened next!
The narrator did an amazing job bringing the story to life.
This audiobook was provided free of charge in exchange for my honest unbiased opinion.

Magical Adventure to Restore the Natural Balance
Any additional comments?
Witch Song is an extremely entertaining debut novel written by Amber Argyle. This is the first book in the Witch Song series where the title itself describes how a witch’s magic manifests itself through song. The stronger the witch’s song, the more powerful she is. I really loved how old Celtic mysticism was woven into the story with the Creators giving witches control over the four elements - air, water, fire and earth - to help all living things work in harmony with each other.
At its core, it is a story of good verses evil. The evil is represented by Witch Hunters who work for the Dark Witch and her quest for world domination. The good is represented by Brusenna, who was raised in isolation away from other witches and knows very little of how witch song controls the seasons and weather to keep a healthy balance in the world. By the time the Witch Hunters come for Brusenna, she is the last of the good witches and the world is dying. The rest of the story is about Senna’s adventure to restore the natural balance and her slow maturation into adulthood.
I listened to the Audible version of this story narrated by Melissa Reizian Frank who did a great job. Melissa’s narration is natural and easy to listen to, which really enhanced my enjoyment of this audiobook. I highly recommend Witch Song!

** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **
This book was great, I love a good witch book...so this fit the bill 100%!!!!
This is the story of young Senna, a witch who is not trained, and been very sheltered..people treat her so cruel...and she feels she has to just take it and hide! Well things start to go bad...and her mother must go off to help the other witches save the country! Crops are dying, droughts are happening all over and people are starving! She leaves instructions for Senna to follow if need be, because a dark witch is capturing good witches to stop there action! Senna must gather all of her strength, learn to trust others and run from witch hunters to save the day, she proves her strength, meets the love of her life, and ultimately saves the day!!!! GREAT STORY!! I WILL BE BUYING BOOK 2!!!
I RECOMMEND!! WELL WORTH YOUR TIME AND A CREDIT!!!

Slow start
This story took awhile to get into, and several times I kept wishing it was over. The book on a whole was ok, but I had a hard time getting into the narrators voice. It was way too mature for the voice of a 16 year old girl. I'm not sure I'll be getting the other books in this series. I'm sorry Amber Argyle, I really wanted to love it.

embark on a journey to save the world
Read with precision and voices to match characters, the narration is crisp enough to overcome car noise. And that is important, because you won't want to miss a word of this engrossing story.
Miss Argyle has created a world in which witches control the seasons and nature, assisting with the coming of the fall and winter and spring and summer, aiding in the growing of plants. But nature has gone awry. The seas lack winds to propel the boats, and should they set out, the thick fogs blanket all. As witches disappear from all the lands, Brusenna finds herself alone, untrained, and angry that she has been lied to her entire life. Join her as she sets out on a trek to save her mother and, perhaps, her entire world.
Not quite as seamless as the commercials would have you believe, none the less the audible system worked very well going back and forth between book and narration, laptop and phone. In fact, for large stretches when I wasn't otherwise occupied, I was able to enjoy reading along with the narration. but when I was busy in the kitchen or feeding the cats I could listen and follow the story beautifully. And this story definitely made me want to keep listening to find out what would happen next.

Fantastic read, would definitely recommend
I was provided a free audio version of this book in exchange for an honest review. I am an avid reader, I have been since the tender age of 3. It was a new experience listening to a book as I read it but it adds a new dynamic to the story. My review contains no spoilers as I do not want to ruin the story for anyone else! (Yes, it was that good)
Ms. Argyle has woven for us a fantastic new world/kingdom and has skillfully written a coming of age story. It has some of the earmarks of a book like Narnia, though our heroine doesn't have any living siblings. She does a fantastic job of building the story and the changes undergone by our heroine without leading us, rather allowing for the story to build and progress naturally.
Ms. Frank narrated this story skillfully and with great flourish. I would have almost preferred if she had attempted to add more of a singsong to the points where Brusenna and the other Keepers were singing, but not knowing her vocal training she did a fantastic job. Narration was done at an even pace and she managed to keep up different intonations for the different characters.
I would definitely suggest this book in both book and audible format, it's a treat to listen to a book while cooking or otherwise completing chores.
