Summary
If you are already ‘full’ how will you find more time and space for more? It’s time to work smarter not harder. No-one won a school cup or got a good school report for working smart. Working hard is what we have traditionally been rewarded for. But working smart is what we need. Especially now when more needs to be done, in less time, by people like you who are already busy! Working smart often means working less dumb, that is doing less of what we know doesn’t work but keep doing anyway.
This is usually a case of:
- Identify outdated habits and new ways of being and working
- Assess your stress levels, energy and performance so you get the most out of yourself without putting everything in
- Make systemic adjustments in your business to sustain these changes
- Create and innovate new working practices Get the balance back in your working and personal lives.

Review of "Work Smart" by David Pearl
This audio book is a recording of a presentation which relied heavily on visual support material.
It consists of a poor summary of a theory called Integral Theory .It requires having pen and paper to hand .When all instructions are followed to make a list of the areas in which you would like to work smarter they are then vaguely assigned to boxes. The overall purpose for assigning them to the boxes does not become clear at all during the presentation.
The presenter a number of times describes a particular topic as belonging ...'Here'. He then no doubt points to the box to which he is referring . This action cannot be seen on the audio version and the meaning is lost.
This presentation received applause at the end, no doubt due to the charisma of the presenter. The topic has no defined beginning , middle or end and listening to it was a pointless exercise . I came away no wiser but having wasted 47 minutes and one credit listening to it.
