About this listen

At 18 Emerson Rosberg was poised to become an Olympic skiing sensation. Growing up in the Adirondack ski town of Lake Henry with a world-renowned ski champion for a father gave her an edge over the competition...until the day she let her ego get the better of her and made a devastating mistake that would cost her any future in the sport. Deciding the only way to heal her shattered dreams was to run as far away from Lake Henry as possible, she settled in Los Angeles, leaving all memories of her previous life far behind.

When her mother dies suddenly, Emerson is forced back to Lake Henry to take care of things, including the sale of The Lakeshore Inn. Her plan to get in and get out of that miserable town as quickly as possible is brought to a screeching halt when Cassie Prescott, the bubbly, friendly owner of a local sporting goods store, gets in the way. Cassie's still cleaning up the debris from her last relationship, but she's instantly drawn to Emerson despite warnings from friends and family alike.

As the cold weather closes in, and Emerson and Cassie's relationship heats up, one question keeps popping up for Emerson: Can you really go home again?

With substance

This romance novel manages to add a pretty substantive story of someone who is still resentful of their lost life on the ski slopes and the impact of what they assume others think.

A very sweet love story

It was a bit of a slow burner, but I enjoyed getting to know the characters and how Cassy and Em's relationship developed. A very sweet love story. I really enjoyed the ending too. Beers did a splendid job.

A lovely lesbian romance

A very enjoyable, touching and a little soppy (in the nicest way) white-girl lesbian romance. Reassuringly featuring super cute women and set in a small town in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains, this is romantic escapism of the soak in a hot tub kind. Though who wants realism anyway, when there's so much of it about at present? Nicely written and narrated too.

2nd listen and still enjoyed

Another story from Georgia Beers that did not disappoint. Did loose a fair bit of sleep listening to it in the early hours and keep resetting the sleep timer.

Brittany Pressley really makes this audiobook. Great voice and characterization.

As being included on audible what more could you want.

New York for me

not a hard choice in my mind, but this beautiful story (enhanced gorgeously by Brittany pressleys' narration) follows difficult desicions, grief, and affairs of the heart, with one point I've never felt before in this genre, I was rooting for both main characters to find thier happy ending, and did they!

Performance was good, shame about the main.

Emerson completely sucks, she's an awful, terrible character. She's a coward who just destroys everyone's lives for literally no reason. No ties in LA, but completely ruins everything for everyone so she can run back there.

Another interesting tale from Georgia Beers

A thought provoking tale of personal epiphany - sometimes people strive to create a different life for themselves without ever truly understanding why or even what they want. This is a classic romantic tale of self discovery and finding happiness in the place you least expect. Good characters and a well rounded plot.

f/f romance which need a bit more.

Georgia Beers is very good at presenting characters and creating a scene in which events can play out. She did that here in this work. However, the story itself felt run of the mill. It's a nice of enough listen, but I would order it after a number of other f/f romances. The other thing I felt was the work needed for editing, There are number of repeated expressions and words, which after a while was distracting, e.g. "her brows furrowed" I did not feel as connected to the characters as others. I think it was because they were so close to other romance characters, they did not stand out. I think its worth a listen, and Brittany Pressley's performance is excellent.
