  • Welcome to the Scouting Memories Podcast! We'll be bringing you interesting and unique personal stories from past and current members of Scouting.

In this episode, we revisit a conversation with Albertus Hoogeveen at the 2018 National Order of the Arrow Conference.

Albertus has been active in Scouting since the 1960s, when he became a troop committee member just so he could go on a trip to Edwards Air Force Base. It wasn’t long before he was elected to the Order of the Arrow, then a month after his Ordeal, he was asked to serve as Chapter Adviser. That simple beginning led him to 13 National Scout Jamborees, 9 World Scout Jamborees, and 22 National Order of the Arrow Conferences. He also became one of the earliest experts in Order of the Arrow patches, contributing to the legendary Arapaho II reference book on OA patches and insignia.

This interview was conducted by Nicholas Crenshaw.

This show is an official part of the Scouting Memories Project, which is an officially-chartered national project of the Boy Scouts of America. We invite you to share your unique, individual stories to help improve and promote all of all Scouting.
