• No Mud Pits - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Mon. 11-25-24 #1414
    Nov 25 2024

Found some great advice that has been echoed so many times from Gary Vee (@garyvee) but it’s connected this time to: Power of Positivity (@LIVEpositivity) “Never wish them pain; that’s not who you are. If they caused you pain, wish them healing.” There seems to be “mud” being thrown all over the place these days. Bad-mouthing others, blaming others, gossiping about others, putting out false information about others, etc. I’ve been focusing on not getting caught up in things like this. I have been finding that there is truth to the statement, “where focus goes - energy flows!” For me, I have too many things to accomplish, build, go after along with helping those I love to do great things living their lives; and I don’t have time to go after people to cause them troubles and problems. Life is way too short for sure. This is really a no-brainer for me. Hope it is for you too. Thanks for listening. • Your Finish Line - Motivation Monday Game Plan - #1413
    Nov 25 2024

Going a little deep emotionally on this post as I found one that really has connected to some other things that I have found lately. This one comes from Kylie Riordan (@mindfulheal) where she shares a quote from Terri St. Cloud and here it is: “And if, when it is all over, I’m asked what I did with my life, I want to be able to say “I offered Love!”” WOW! Since we are getting closer to the end date in life than we were yesterday, I really feel this is a very powerful mindset to have. Look ahead to how you want your finish line to look! Have the end in mind. Then build your days to connect with that. John O’Leary has that as one of his “Live Inspired 7”, a set of questions he asks each of his guests from his podcast - one of the questions is: “It’s been said that all great people can have their lives summed up in one sentence. How do you want yours to read?” First of all, I love looking at myself as being a great enough person so that I can have that shot of having my life viewed like that. Again, one sentence… that’s a powerful thought. For me it will have to contain something about being a life-long educator & coach, who loved his wife & family, friends and being a difference maker for his students, players, coworkers, etc. I think I need to zero in on this one sentence for sure and then continue to build my life around that statement. What would yours be like? Thanks for listening. • This Roadblock Is Draining - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Fri. 11-22-24 #1412
    Nov 22 2024

Found another item to get me reflecting on being my best. I’ve come to find that I not only look forward to working hard on being my best, but also I know I need to. A couple of great coaches shared this one. Coach AJ Mental Fitness (@coachajkings) shared this post with some thoughts from Coach Jay Wright where he shared this gem: “The greatest characteristic you can have as a human being is a great attitude. It’s a choice you have every day.” Coach AJ reminds us that it's a choice on perspective, not circumstance. A negative attitude is a roadblock. It's draining. Not sure if there is something that is not 100% more on target with what can cause ourselves trouble than these thoughts. Just try and take this on, even for just a few minutes every day and watch the good things to come into your life. Thanks for listening. • Becoming Your Best - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Thur. 11-21-24 #1411
    Nov 21 2024

I think it’s safe to say that we all want to be at our best, I know I want to be my best. It takes a conscious effort to do that. Jon Gordon (@JonGordon11) had a great post that got me zeroed in on this. He shared this thought: “No one ever became their best by focusing on someone else’s flaws. Look for the best in others.” At times I will focus my attention towards others flaws. Blaming them for things, getting upset about it, etc. I’m learning that it makes much better use of my time and mental well-being to focus on improving my own flaws (which are many) compared to worrying about what others are doing wrong. I think the world (especially our own little part of it), would be a lot better if we took this to heart. Thanks for listening. • Be Aggressive To Learn - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Wed. 11-20-24 #1410
    Nov 20 2024

Found a very eye-opening post that hit me - not just because I love basketball, as basketball (sports in general) have nothing to do with this one - but I simply love the term that was used here. I found this from Ball is Psych (@BallisPsych) “Michael Jordan was once asked what he thought his best skill was. He didn’t say it was his ability to dunk from the free throw line or his scoring ability. His answer: “I was coachable. I was a sponge and aggressive to learn.” The easier you are to lead, the further you’ll go.” I see it as being about how we can approach the things in our lives that we get fired up over. I know I need to get more "aggressive" when it comes to my learning of the things that fire me up about my life. How about you? It really comes down to investing in yourself so you can lead yourself! • Pick Wisely - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Tue. 11-19-24 #1409
    Nov 19 2024

Saw this post and it helped me tremendously at the moment I needed to see it. Just kind of got off into a bit of a rut this morning as I ran some errands. I caught my focus going in directions that were not good for me. Negativity, things that were bringing me down, etc. Sam Crowley says it a lot, where our focus goes - that’s where our energy flows!! I’m glad I realized I had to stop it. Having intentional focus (as Ben Newman talks about a lot) came back into focus for me. So, about this post… it came from Christine Bemis (@ChristineBemis2) and she shared a quote from Hans F. Hansen who said: “People inspire you or drain you - pick them wisely.” I could see in a little bit of reflection that I was letting my focus go to people and things that I could not control first of all, but I was also letting those things bring me down. Thankfully, at least for the moment, I remembered about controlling my response to things. I simply need to keep doing that in a positive way. How about you? What do you do when these types of things hit you?? Thanks for listening. • The Real Test Is - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Mon. 11-18-24 #1408
    Nov 18 2024

Found a great & powerful (yet short) post that I think will help anyone who just takes a few moments to listen to it and think about how you can use it more in your life. I know it will help me tremendously. This comes from The Mindfulness Meditation Institute (@TrainingMindful) "The real test is being kind to unkind people." This is one of the more difficult things that I know for me, it’s hard to do. I want to but at times I’m not very good at it and it causes me and the other person(s) a lot of problems. Again, it goes back to the previous podcast about being smart of dumb. Being disciplined or undisciplined. It also shows that I have a heck of alot of work to get done on myself. One thing for sure, it’s never done. Self Improvement & Personal Development, are things there will always be something to do, each and every day that I am alive! It will just get harder in the future, from the simple fact that I will be older. Another reason to get working on things sooner than later, while I’m “young.” 😂 Thanks for listening. • Which Are You? - Motivation Monday Game Plan - #1407
    Nov 18 2024

A couple of coaches shared a question that all of us can ask ourselves. This is posted from my former student and current teacher & head varsity football coach, Coach Ray Ostrowski (@CoachRayO3313) and he asks a question: “Which are you? Disciplined, or undisciplined? - It doesn’t matter how you feel. ‘Feeling good’ is temporary; it comes and goes. The disciplined get it done! Can’t just do what you think it takes. Always push yourself to do whatever it takes.” The other coach that is part of this post is Coach Nick Saban. There is more to this post as only Coach Saban can say it. Remember, this just does not mean it applies only to athletics. This is for all of us and the lives we want to create for ourselves. Thanks for listening.
