It was a very good weekend for our beloved Cornhuskers.

The Nebraska men’s basketball team defeated Creighton, ranked Creighton, and in doing so held their star Ryan Kalkbrenner to four total points, all from the free throw line. Given his performance before that game, that is a most incredible stat, and I hope it bodes well for the rest of the men’s basketball season.

The women lost to Creighton, and sadly, before that, they also lost Natalie Potts, last year’s Big Ten Freshman of the Year, for the season with an ACL injury. The women are still ranked 25th in the nation, and the men are garnering votes.

Then we get to the biggest news of the weekend, where Nebraska crushed the Wisconsin Badgers, winning their sixth win, earning them the right to go to a bowl game, and exorcizing a lot of demons.

They scored on every possession in the red zone, and given that they were 127th in the red zone coming into this game, that’s pretty impressive.

To top all that off, Nebraska volleyball swept Wisconsin!

It was a really fun weekend all around, and while everybody seems to be focusing on the we’re going to a bowl game aspect of this, we can top the regular season off by beating those sons of bitches from Iowa.

Wouldn’t that be great?

This week on the premier reaction podcast/live show out there, the Corn Nation Overreaction, Greg, Hoss, and Jake will break down Nebraska’s sixth win of the season, the 44-25 victory over the Wisconsin Badgers.

The Huskers are bowl-eligible for the first time since 2016 and toppled Wiscy for the first time since September 2012. And it happened in Matt Rhule’s second year, Dylan Raiola’s eleventh game, and Dana Holgorsen’s second game.

While the two teams traded scores early (we see you and we appreciate you, Heinrich Haarberg), Nebraska never trailed and looked in control the entire game.

Emmett Johnson became the Huskers’ first 100-yard rusher of the season. Raiola threw for almost 300 yards, and the defense was good enough to beat the Badgers to the Bowl Game (context: Wisconsin is also seeking their sixth win of the season).

The Nebraska football team exorcised two big demons tonight.

A) The first win against Wisconsin since the iPhone 4 was new

2) Being bowl eligible for the first time since the Obama administration.

But today, the Huskers put on a dominating performance against the Badgers, winning the Freedom Trophy with a decisive 44-25 tilt.

Timely defensive stops, a perfect kicker, a hundred-yard rusher...it was a thing of beauty.
