Libby Carr. Libby has been an environmental and political activist for much of her life. It was when she had her first big job (working for the Sierra Club) when she had her near death experience while on a white-water raft trip on the Snake River. This happened in 1972, several years before much had been written about this phenomenon.

Libby shares her near-death experience in 1972 and how it impacted her life. She describes being trapped under a raft during a whitewater rafting trip and having a conversation with an energy beyond anything she had ever experienced. This experience removed her fear of death and made her more interested in the spiritual conversation. She became involved in the International Association for Near Death Studies and found a community of people who had similar experiences. She also believes in the concept of reincarnation and the need to learn lessons of love, growth, and forgiveness in multiple lifetimes. The conversation explores the topic of near-death experiences (NDEs) and the profound shifts they can bring to individuals. The speakers discuss why some people have NDEs while others don't, and the various ways in which people can gain clarity and insight about life and death. They emphasize the importance of not discounting or dismissing these experiences, but rather valuing and learning from them. The conversation also touches on the significance of taking care of unfinished business and having no regrets when facing death. The speakers share personal stories and insights, highlighting the transformative power of NDEs and the importance of sharing and listening to these stories.

In this episode Seth Viddal shares his journey of becoming aware of death and how it has impacted his life. He discusses his experiences with traditional funerals and the limitations he felt in the funeral industry. This led him to start The Natural Funeral, an organization that offers ecological funeral options. Seth explains the processes of natural organic reduction and water cremation, highlighting their environmental benefits. He also emphasizes the importance of creating meaningful rituals and the challenges of making these options more widely available.

Seth has been an entrepreneur for most of his adult life. After serving in the Air Force during Operation Desert Shield, he designed and sold communication solutions for government intelligence agencies.

Following the unexpected deaths of both of his parents and a younger brother, Seth was called to explore alternatives to conventional funeral services. In 2017, he sold his companies and went back to school at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. He helped open the doors to The Natural Funeral in Boulder County in 2019. They have since opened a second funeral home and a care center in Denver, Colorado, where they perform ecological dispositions.

Seth and The Natural Funeral are transforming the funeral industry. They have expanded end-of-life care options available to Coloradans by bringing water cremation and terramation to the state. The Natural Funeral hosted the Inaugural Body Composting Conference in Denver in March 2023, which was the first global initiative to connect researchers, funeral professionals, legislators, mortuary science students, end-of-life caregivers, universities, and composting professionals.

Tajali is a Certified Mindfulness Educator, Peace Educator, Marriage and Family Therapist, Family Life Educator, and Registered Yoga Teacher. She is the founder of both the Children’s Global Peace Project and The Consciousness Project–an Empowerment Life Coaching Counseling Business. She holds an MS in Educational Psychology and BS in Family Life Education.

Tajali is passionate about teaching social-emotional, awareness and mindfulness skills. She specializes in creative expression, communication, healthy parent-child relationships and peace work. Over the course of 3o years, she has developed and led 35 children’s peace camps. Tajali is a certified Dances of Universal Peace Leader and Mentor, on the Board of DUPNA (Dances of Universal Peace North America). She is an ordained minister (Cheraga) in the Church of All, leading Universal Worship Services.

Tajalii is a certified mindfulness educator and peace educator. In this episode she shares her experiences and insights on death and dying. She first became aware of death at a young age and was fascinated by the concepts of heaven, hell, and purgatory. Throughout her life, she has witnessed the deaths of loved ones and worked with people who were dying. Tajalii emphasizes the importance of holding space for others and being present with them during the dying process. She also discusses the death of the ego and the fear of not living a meaningful life. Tajalii's work as a coach and counselor focuses on helping individuals recognize their own worth and contribution. She teaches mindfulness in schools and creates art as a form of healing and support for those in the dying process. Tajalii encourages listeners to reflect on their own lives and bring more reverence to themselves and others.

Megan received a PhD in Transformative Studies from the California Institute of Integral Studies for their dissertation Trans Theology Without Apology. Megan received a Doctorate of Ministry from the Pacific School of Religion, studying the radical organizing in the 60's and 70's at Glide Memorial Church, where he currently serve as the Senior Church Communications Specialist.

Megan is an award-winning filmmaker, musician and historian. He was a finalist for the Lambda Literary award in transgender non-fiction and received an honorable mention as an Unsung Hero of Compassion by Wisdom in Action. He was with His Holiness the Dali Lama, one of 95 individuals celebrated in Vittenberg, Germany during the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation. They share personal encounters with death, including their father's attempted suicide and their work as a chaplain for the San Francisco Police Department. Megan finds support in their impact on people's lives and in tangible projects with tangible completions. They also discuss the importance of supporting and checking in with first responders who often carry the weight of difficult moral questions and grief.
