  • James is presented in the New Testament, along with Hebrews, 1st and 2nd Peter, and Jude, as epistles written to Jewish believers in Christ. As such it is not directly addressed to churches or to individuals as Paul does.

    Here James addresses these brothers and believers with an exhortation to count it all joy under trials. These were undergoing trials of various kinds. As we shall see later, these trials were happening among the poor and the rich, those who were of high position and of those where were of low position.
