GMO? Oxidative Stress? Good or Harmful to YOUR Health?

  • Summary

  • GMOs, or “genetically modified organisms,” are plants or animals that have been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses or other plants and animals. These combinations of genes from different species do not occur in nature, nor in traditional crossbreeding. Commercial GMOs are engineered to withstand direct application of herbicide and/or to produce an insecticide. However, current evidence connects GMOs with health problems and environmental damage. Are they Good or Bad for your Health? Oxidative Stress represents an imbalance between the systemic manifestation of reactive oxygen species and a biological system's ability to readily detoxify the reactive intermediates or to repair the resulting damage. Disturbances in the normal redox state of cells can cause toxic effects through the production of peroxides and free radicals that damage all components of the cell, including proteins, lipids, and DNA. Thus, oxidative stress can cause disruptions in normal mechanisms of cellular signaling. Now you know what oxidative stress is. How do you improve your health and fight the free radicals in your body? Listen to Paul St. John as he shares his wealth of knowledge on these topics.
