  • Interview with Author Kristyn J. Miller
    Dec 23 2022

JosephWriterAnderson.com has grown a ton since the early days when we had our first episode with Kristyn, and Kristyn’s writing journey has gone through many twists and turns. Luckily we’ve had a front row seat to it, and the story has a very happy (and successful) ending.

In this episode, Kristyn takes us through how her latest writing pivot took her from writing about an Icelandic fishing village to Catalina Island, just off the coast of Southern California, near LA.

Her upcoming novel, Seven Rules for Breaking Hearts (available for preorder), debuts May 16, 2023 and is described as ‘a sparkling debut rom-com, a perpetually single podcaster has to break all of her own dating rules…’

Watch the video or listen to the podcast to hear about the story in the author’s own words, and how Kristyn’s life has changed since landing not one but TWO book deals with one of the world’s greatest publishers.

Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay between this episode and the last, but Loomis and I are finishing up our review of Harry Potter books 4-7, talking about key plot points, and things we noticed differently about them this time vs. when we were kids. Some of those points include (but are not limited to):

Ginny Weasley – dream girl, or fan girl?

Snape (again) – villain or friend?

Ron and Hermione – dream couple, or worst nightmare?

If you love getting way too serious about every little detail of Harry Potter, then this episode is for you! Joining me is my cohost, Michaela Loomis!

  • The Witcher: Yennefer’s Character Growth in Season Two
    Jan 12 2022

In this episode, we talk about writing, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Witcher Season 2 and Yennefer’s character growth.

We also discuss some of the differences between season one and season two, like Triss Merrigold’s red hair, Ciri’s dark eyebrows, and Geralt’s sudden loquaciousness.

    *Mega Spoilers Ahead

    Who is Yennefer?

Yennefer is a powerful mage in The Witcher – one of the most powerful characters of all. But she’s got a soft spot – she wants a child of her own.

In season two of The Witcher, she is given the chance to develop in a way that is different from the books. She loses her powers, and even attempts to betray Ciri in order to get them back.

Does this make sense for her character?

Do they show the bond between Yennefer and Ciri well enough in the show?

We answer this and more in the episode.

    Who is Ciri?

Ciri is the Child of Elder blood, and the most powerful character in the Witcher.

How Old is Ciri in the Show?

She’s supposed to be around 16, which is half way between her age in the books and the show.

    What Are Jaskier’s Best Songs?

Was Toss a Coin To Your Witcher his greatest hit? Or does Burn Butcher Burn come close?

    Should Eskell Have Died?

Eskell died in the book – did it make sense that Geralt was so willing to kill him and not kill Ciri?

Listen to the episode to find out more!
