Bex has coached cross the breadth of the sport working with ITU, Paralympic and Commonwealth games medalists. Bex now coaches Pro Triathletes and AG athletes over the 70.3 and Ironman distances.


    Nikki has been a Professional Triathlete for 9 years, with over 25 podiums, 2 x Top 10 finishes at the IRONMAN World 70.3 Championships. And recently 5th at the IRONMAN World Championships in Nice.


    This podcast is aimed to engage with the sporting community, involving ‘training tails’ and ‘coaches corner’ where listeners can send in their questions and tails of the week. There will also be topics, interviews and wife tails thrown into the podcast too.

    In this episode are super excited to welcome our first guest onto the podcast! Non other than the winner of the 2025 Montane Spine race, the vicar at our wedding...... the incredible Lucy Gossage!


    Within our catching up we speak through

    • The various reasons why she decided to return to the spine
    • The strategy and value of being able to build on the knowledge from the previous year
    • What she ate, when she slept
    • Camaraderie within the women's field
    • Making friends within the race...... most notably Tim!


    After finishing our chat we decided that it would be rude not to get Tim on to share his version of events. After attempting the spine twice previously and failing each time, it was a case of 3rd time lucky for Tim. We discuss with him

  • Episode 5| World 70.3 debrief, honeymoon disaster & life update

    In this episode we begin by sharing some epic training tails from our time over Xmas and what will be the key to unlocking Nikki's swimming in 2025!


    From there we bring you the listeners into our World 70.3 Champs debrief. Although a few weeks have past since the race, we haven't as yet managed to sit down and discuss the race so we figured the pod would be the perfect place to do it!


    After chatting all things racing we go through out honeymoon activities and share what it was like to explore North Island with the worst flu ever! Sun and snot what more could you want from your honeymoon!


    And to finish off we answer listener questions on coaches corner where we discuss

    • How do athletes and coaches choose to work together?
    • How we set training sessions and what testing we use
    • Advise how to balance training load when starting a new job

  • Episode 4| Dealing with injuries, mudbaths in Taupo and tips on training through a bad day

    In this episode we begin by sharing some epic training tails from our brilliant listeners. Trail running in the dark, bike routes that don't quite go to plan and Bex manages to hit the deck running on her first week in NZ!


    From there we delve into detail around

    • How to manage training around an injury.
    • We specifically look at how to get the right diagnosis and the importance of this.
    • How to modify your training and then critically how to introduce full training again.
    • Nikki reflects on injuries shes sustained over her career and what she's learnt along the way.


    And to finish we tackle the very relatable question of

    • How to build confidence swimming in open water.
    • Nikki then answers a question around the number of pro races and how this can impact the demands on pro athletes and race frequency.
