Nothing much happens: bedtime stories to help you sleep

By: iHeartPodcasts
  • Summary

  • Having trouble sleeping? Join Yoga and meditation teacher Kathryn Nicolai for bedtime stories where nothing much happens to help you relax and sleep peacefully. The stories are a soft landing spot for your mind. Rather than letting your brain race through the same thoughts you’ve been chasing all day, we are taking a detour to a calm and comfy place. We tell the story twice and go a bit slower the second time.

  • Closing Up Shop
    May 6 2018

Our story tonight is called “Closing up shop” and it’s a story about a bookshop at the end of the day. Lev Grossman wrote in The Magician’s Land “It didn’t matter where you were, if you were in a room full of books you were at least halfway home.” If that feels true to you, then this story is for you. Beyond the friendliness of the company of books, this story is also about being in a safe place and looking out from it at one’s leisure, and about the lovely feeling of anticipating something nice.

So get cozy and ready to sleep.

Just the ticket to get to sleep

I’ve been looking for a while for a story that’s calm and quiet, and nothing much happens to help me drift off - this is brilliant! Interesting enough to focus on, nothing exciting enough to stay awake for.

Very relaxing

The world of nothing much is so charming and peaceful I almost want to listen to the stories while awake too just to get into that relaxed, cozy state. It’s really a sort of meditation. I usually fall asleep in the first 10 minutes. I love the way the stories are built up and Kathryn’s voice and performance is perfect. I also purchased the book, which is super too but this podcast works even better.

Excellent story. I've listened to this multiple times. I too love a full Churchill nap.
