    Sep 30 2024

Welcome back to the podcast where research and knowledge are secondary to the ramblings of an old man and the occasional appearance of his teenage son.

On a feature packed program, we firstly take a look at the Kevin Walters sacking as the Brisbane Broncos coach, and go back over the history of the position since the end of the first Wayne Bennett era, and discuss whether the Broncos will ever be able to get over the fact that Wayne will never coach them again. On the subject of new coaches, we also get into the resignation of Graham Arnold as Socceroos coach, and whether or not that could be the catalyst that has them regain their spark.

The AFL Grand Final lived up to no ones expectations, and we talk about the lead up, the match itself, and what it could mean going forward. The NRL semi’s also provided few surprises and little dramatic play, and we talk about what could be the lamest Grand Final since… well… the last one.

The President’s Cup Golf has again gone the United States way, and through the usual pain and agony of America winning a sporting event we talk about is there any way this demolition can be turned around. And of course there is cricket, with the England and Australia ODI series over with we talk about the winners and the losers, as well as a look forward to the women’s T20 World Cup.

    Sep 24 2024

Welcome back to the podcast where research and knowledge are secondary to the ramblings of an old man and the occasional appearance of his teenage son.

Flying solo again this week, we take a look at the final four of the NRL competition, and while we discuss that the best four teams of the season are now fighting it out to make the final dance, we consider whether the scenario of the same three clubs once again dominating the season is a good thing for rugby league.

The AFL has its Grand Final teams decided, and in just the fourth season where two teams from outside Victoria will compete for the title, we take a chance at predicting a winner.

And in cricket, the domestic one day competition has started in style with three enthralling matches, and lots of great performances which we cast our eye over. And our men's and women's international teams are also putting plenty of matches in the win column, and we talk about those results.

Welcome back to the podcast where research and knowledge are secondary to the ramblings of an old man and the occasional appearance of his teenage son.

On his own again, the elder Peters today indulges in his absolute passion, cricket, and the belittlement of anyone who thinks they know better than he does. On today's episode he discusses the Australians white ball odyssey against Scotland and England, and what it holds for their future heading into the next World Cups. Also discussed is the current future of cricket venues in Australia and the tragedy unfolding in regards to the Gabba, the recent BBL Draft and whether any of it matters in regards to its success, and the retirement of Will Pucovski and the disappointment of a career unfulfilled.

    Aug 13 2024

Welcome back to the podcast where research and knowledge are secondary to the ramblings of an old man and the occasional interjection of his teenage son.

In order to keep things fresh around here, there is a slight format change for the podcast, involving less detailed research into the sports events of the week, and more of a catch up conversation which is allowed to go in whatever direction it takes.

As a result, today's episode not only includes a discussion on the recently completed Olympic Games from Paris, NRL and AFL devastating results on the same night at the same time, cricket from around the globe and on the home front, but also a discussion on shark movies, music and podcast dissection, and even the planning for retirement. Something for everyone.

For those of you still here, thanks for listening to Peters and Peters, the podcast where knowing about sport is secondary to your ability to talk rubbish about it, and no everything else as well.

With both members back on board today, saddle up as Josh and Bill take a look at the state of play in the NRL and AFL with finals just around the corner.

The NRL has five rounds to go, and the AFL just three rounds until the finals arrive. Today we take a look at the ladders, and discuss the way the clubs have performed to this point of the season. We discuss the averageness of the teams who are already ruled out of finals contention, the fight for the clubs who are still trying to confirm a finals place, and then look at the state of affairs nearer the top of the ladder. The conclusion comes to pass that one code is definitely a superior quality than the other.

On this week's episode, a Josh-less podcast talks about the initial viewings of the Paris Olympics and goes about discussing three main points. Firstly the way that the TV coverage of the Olympics has changed and also how it has remained the same, and we look at the good and the awful of what has been produced so far. Secondly we discuss a number of the sports and so-called sports that are being held at this Olympics, and whether or not they are appropriate or necessary at the largest sporting event in the world. And thirdly, we talk about the United States and their absolute requirement of being seen as the world's superpower in sport, and how they will manipulate a medal tally to ensure that they are always in front.
