The Clear Quran

By: Blessed Knowledge
  • Summary

  • A sincere effort to spread the words of the Quran to those whose hearts are open to listen and learn. Khalifah Taniji's recitation is used here and the English translation is from The Clear Quran by Dr. Mustafa Khattab. I have taken a preference to the recitation by Taniji because of his crystal clear clarity in his tajwid and as for the English translation, I have found the ones translated by Dr. Mustafa Khatab to be easier to understand, especially in the contemporary way that English is being used today. Pls take a moment to enjoy this recitation and its translation. May Allah bless you.

  • 3-1. The Family of 'Imran (Al-'Imran آلِ ﻋِﻤْرَانَ ) verses 1 to 34
    Jun 20 2024

This episode marks the beginning of Surah Ali-'Imran, a Medinian surah which has 200 verses. The first 34 verses' overarching theme is the reiteration that Allah is the source of divine revelation. Having a belief in Allah as the only Lord and Islam as His only accepted religion. Reminders that scriptures are a source of guidance. In this episode, we are reminded of Allah's Might, the differences between precise and elusive verses, prayers of the knowledgeable, punishment of the disbelievers, Allah's help at the battle of Badr, temporary pleasure, everlasting delight, worshipping of only One God and to follow one path, that is Islam. Also contained in these 34 verses, are mentions of the people who are rebellious and those who reject Allah's judgement and infinite power. In this episode, we are warned of taking disbelievers as guardians unless as a precaution against their tyranny. Before we end, the Quran reminds us of Allah's Infinite Knowledge, the accountability for Good and Evil, of obedience to Allah and His messenger and who are truly the blessed people.

Sypnosis from The Clear Quran book by Dr. Mustafa Khattab:

This Medinian surah takes its name from the Family of ’Imran mentioned in verse 33. Like the previous surah, it reiterates the fact that Allah is the source of divine revelation and affirms the belief in Allah as the only Lord and Islam as His only accepted religion. The story of the birth of Mary, John the Baptist, and Jesus is mentioned, along with a challenge to the Christian perception of Jesus (‫)ﷺ‬. The surah also touches on early battles against the Meccan pagans with emphasis on the lessons to be drawn from the Muslims’ defeat at the Battle of Uhud, which took place in 3 A.H./625 C.E. The virtue of being mindful of Allah is highlighted at the end of this surah and the beginning of the next one.

  • 2-10. The Cow (Al-Baqarah الْبَقَرة ) verses 261 to 286
    Apr 12 2024

Three main themes appear in the revelations. Charity, interests and debts. God tells us how charity will multiply our rewards when the charity is sincere and for His cause. Oppose that to charity that is not rewarded in the sight of God because it was done to show off. These are wasted rewards. God commands not to donate things that are worthless even to our own eyes! And to be careful of the devil discouraging charity with the prospect of poverty. God reveals that it is better to give charity in private than openly. God also forbids the taking of interest and treat it as a war wage against Him! Last but not least, in this episode, and the last few six very long verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, we hear of how taking a debt is best done with writing of a contract and nominating witnesses. And as for collecting of debts it is to be done with empathy. This longest surah in the Quran ends with a powerful supplication in verse 286,which asked Allah not to place a burden on us like the one He has placed to the people before us.

Sypnosis from The Clear Quran book by Dr. Mustafa Khattab:

This Medinian sûrah, which takes its name from the story of the cow in verses 91–121, details the main concepts of the previous sûrah, with emphasis on the qualities of the believers, disbelievers, and hypocrites; Allah’s power to create and resurrect; the enmity of Satan towards Adam and his descendants; as well as Allah's covenant with Moses and the Children of Israel. Several rulings are given in regards to marital, relationships, bequest, jihad, fasting, pilgrimage, donations, debts, and interest. Unlike the next chapter, which focuses on the Christian perception of Jesus, this sûrah dedicates a sizable portion to Jewish attitudes and practices.

  • 2-9. The Cow (Al-Baqarah الْبَقَرة ) verses 234 to 260
    Apr 4 2024

We will hear more of God's commands on marriage and divorce; what to do and not to do as a righteous believer of God's law. We will hear for the first time in the Quran, the story of Prophet Samuel appointing Saul as king of the Israelites despite objections from the Israelites chiefs. Saul's army was tested by God with a drink from a river and God gives victory over Goliath and his warriors through David, who was made king and prophet. In this episode, we also get to hear revelations about Jesus, son of Mary and how he is supported by the holy spirit by Allah. Other themes on spending in God's way, believing in one true God and of free will in accepting Islam are mentioned here in the Quran. Last but the least, the ending of this episode, we will get to hear two interesting stories. One, about Abraham and the arrogant king who questioned God's power to give life and cause death and secondly, the story of Ezra, whom God caused to die for a hundred years and bringing him back to life.
