  • Sara Leeds is Opening the Door to Doormen’s Stories
    Oct 23 2024

Some say New York City stories are found in the most unlikely places and sometimes right in front of your eyes or right in front of your door. Sara Leeds has discovered just that with her social media series, Doorman Stories, where she interviews the city’s residential doormen, bouncers, and more. On this episode, we discussed the series, Sara’s personal social media journey, and why we love telling and sharing stories.

  • Beyond the Rotunda with Guggenheim’s Karen Vidangos
    Oct 1 2024

During my quest to visit every museum in New York City, I’ve met some incredible people who work behind the scenes at some of my favorite institutions including today’s guest Karen Vidangos. She serves as the Social Media Manager at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. Karen also elevates other Latinx perspectives in the arts with her social media account @latinainmuseums and by founding the Latinx Art Collective. It was so great to chat with Karen about her work, how she got into the field, and how we can encourage other institutions to present more diverse work.

  • PAC NYC: The Cube of Culture with Miranda Palumbo
    Aug 6 2024

The opening of the Perelman Performing Arts Center (PACNYC) in Lower Manhattan this past fall was a really magical thing to see. And you’re probably hearing all about it through its viral production of Cats: The Jellicle Ball running now through September 8 (it got extended again after recording this episode)! For this episode, I got to chat with Miranda Palumbo, the Director of Digital Content at PACNYC about building a new cultural institution, how to create a brand, and of course, Cats.

  • A Quest Off-Broadway at the Twenty-Sided Tavern
    Jul 16 2024

Currently running Off-Broadway, Dungeons & Dragons: The Twenty-Sided Tavern is one of my favorite shows to open this year. Going into it, I knew nothing about the game, yet the show opens newcomers and veterans with open arms to play in this zany and interactive theatrical experience. I sat down with DAGL, the show’s co-creator, story writer, producer, and original Dungeon Master to chat about bringing an iconic game to the stage, audience hijinks, and creating community through the show.

  • Behind the Scenes at Poster House with Angelina Lippert
    Jul 1 2024

I fell in love with Poster House when I first visited in spring 2021 for my “Jane Visits Every Museum in New York City” video series. Through its incredible exhibitions, programming, and accessibility efforts, it exemplifies what a great art institution can be.

For this episode, I had a conversation with Angelina Lippert, the Chief Curator and Director of Content at Poster House. We discuss breaking into the curatorial world, what goes into creating a museum, and her new exhibition “The Anatomy of a Movie Poster: The Work of Dawn Baillie (on show through Sep 8, 2024)

  • Gettin' Fizzy With It At The Brooklyn Seltzer Museum
    May 29 2024

Compared to pizza and bagels, seltzer water kind of flies under the radar in regards to NYC edible delights, but it has a long and rich history in the city. The Brooklyn Seltzer Museum is sharing that history inside Brooklyn Seltzer Boys which is the last seltzer factory in the tri-state area.

Today I talk with the team behind the museum: Alex Gomberg, the Vice President of Brooklyn Seltzer Boys, and Barry Joseph, the author of Seltzertopia: The Extraordinary Story of an Ordinary Drink.
