Josh Abbandonato is the host of the “Derelict Podcast”, he is passionate in addressing men’s issues and creating spaces where men can be true to themselves. Josh talks about the importance of fatherhood and seeking advice from other men to avoid repeating past mistakes and grow as better fathers and men.

    Jun 26 2024

"Success is defines by doing something so well that other men will seek you out and pay you respect... Doing something so well that other men will seek you out."

Men chase success and how does it impact their status? Why do some men naturally rise to leadership positions while others shy away? Could it all boil down to a concept as elusive as “status”? What does it really mean to be a high-status man in today's world? Why does status matters so much in leadership and relationships? What does status mean for men and women, and how it shapes our interactions and societal roles?

Women often gain status through their problems, with higher status often linked to bigger challenges. This is a stark contrast to how status is perceived among men. For men, status is synonymous with success. Men are drawn to those who display their achievements prominently, whether it’s through wealth, leadership, or skill in various fields. The importance of focusing on personal success to naturally elevate status among peers. Be strategic and intelligent when defining and achieving success.

The critical advice for younger men is to prioritize success - developing their mind, muscle, and financial stability. This approach not only improves personal status but also attracts the right kind of partner. Women should be considered a side hustle, not a full-time job.

  • EP147:Ken Stapleton - Why Elders Matter
    Jun 5 2024

“Hey, we need to lend a hand here. We need to get these younger men into a place where they actually need to know how to change a tire... change a set of spark plugs. Younger men are lost.”

Are we losing touch with the wisdom of our elders? Do young men today understand the true essence of masculinity? In today's fast-paced world, many men feel lost, disconnected from their roots, and unsure of their role in society. The values and skills that once defined masculinity are being overshadowed by modern distractions and confusion. But what if reclaiming these lost traditions could help us find our way back?

In a world that often feels increasingly disconnected from traditional values, many of us feel a deep yearning for guidance, wisdom, and strength. We all seek a sense of purpose and direction, especially in challenging times. Elders role is providing wisdom and guidance to younger generations. Their life experiences and insights can help young men navigate the complexities of life with greater clarity and confidence. Elders act as role models, demonstrating values such as integrity, resilience, and responsibility.

Over recent decades, rapid societal changes have created confusion about what it means to be a man. Movements towards gender equality, changing family dynamics, and the digital revolution have all contributed to this uncertainty. The decline of traditional industries and the rise of knowledge-based economies have shifted the roles men play in both work and home environments. This confusion is compounded by the lack of positive male role models in media and public life, leading to a crisis of identity for many men.

Ken Stapleton is a man with over two decades of experience in men's work. He is someone who understands the importance of nurturing younger men into true masculinity. He's here to share his insights on how we can integrate traditional masculine values into modern societal norms and why this integration is more crucial now than ever.

If you’re feeling disconnected or unsure about your place in the world, it’s time to take action. Start by taking an active role in the lives of the young men around you. Teach them the skills they need to become self-reliant and sovereign.

  • EP146: Arpa & Billou - Embrace Confrontation
    May 29 2024

Have you ever wondered why men today seem to avoid confrontation at all costs? most of us can agree that something crucial is missing in how modern society handles masculinity. We’ve all noticed how confrontation between boys and men, while reasonably avoided, once a cornerstone of male was once accepted as part of bonding and growth., is now often viewed negatively. The idea that there’s nothing wrong with Now, confrontation between men is a trend that’s getting lost in modern ideologies that leave little room along with a degree of sensitivity that doesn’t belong on the battlefield or for in traditional masculinity.

Let's challenge ourselves to embrace healthy confrontation and rediscover the strength in our masculinity. Engage in those tough conversations with respect and dignity, and watch how it fosters growth and deeper connections, and let's bring back this essential aspect of being a man.

  • EP145 - A Good Man Is A Dangerous Man
    May 22 2024

Do you believe that confrontation between men is a necessary part of life? Ever wondered why it's often criticized in today's society? If you’ve faced situations where confrontation felt unavoidable, whether it was a heated argument or even a physical altercation, you know these moments can define us as men.

Let’s dive into why confrontation isn't inherently bad, why it's sometimes necessary, and how it fits into our roles as protectors. This is a topic I feel strongly about and will revisit in future episodes because it’s crucial for our understanding of manhood. Society often focuses on the act of yelling itself, labeling it as inherently negative without understanding the context. The negative reaction to yelling overlooks the reasons behind it, such as setting boundaries or addressing disrespect. There are situations where verbal or physical confrontation is essential for asserting boundaries and protecting oneself or loved ones. Avoiding all forms of confrontation can lead to unresolved issues and a lack of respect from others.

As protectors, men must be prepared to confront threats to their family and friends. This readiness includes not just physical capability but also the mental preparedness to handle aggressive situations effectively. Remember, being a good man means being a dangerous man who has it under voluntary control. Confrontation is part of our duty to protect and preside, so let’s embrace it responsibly. Stay strong and be ready to stand your ground.
