  • Letters to Grief with Kate Motaung
    Jul 12 2024

Letters to Grief is a collection of letters I wrote to grief.

    I wrote it for you.

For all of you who have known grief as a close companion, an intimate friend. A shadow.

I wrote it for those of you who have not yet experienced its acute pangs, but have watched people cringe with the weight of its burden.

I wrote it not to dictate how people feel or should feel, but to open a discussion about grief’s all-consuming and ever-changing nature. Its paradoxes and its unexpected qualities.

I wrote it for those who have grieving friends and don’t know what it’s like, and for those who wonder when it will pass.
I wrote it because grief is a fickle creature, and often despised. Misunderstood and underestimated. Feared, even.

Some think it can be conquered. Overcome.

    I disagree.

From my limited experience, grief is not something that passes, at least not in this lifetime. It’s not something a person can graduate from and walk away, unchanged.

It’s cyclical, like the moon. It waxes and wanes, ever present.

  • Brain Prayers with Karen D. Wood
    Jul 5 2024

If we know someone has a tumor on a lung, we can picture it and pray for healing in that lung. If someone breaks a leg, we can imagine the cast, and pray for healing in that bone. Ahhh! What if we could pray that specifically for someone with anxiety, ADHD, resentment, or rage? The purpose of this book is to take you out of the box, to open a new world of praying about one of our least understood parts: our brain.

The study of the brain has exploded in recent decades, as has curiosity about prayer and the brain. Now, learn more about both, transform your life, and those that you pray for. So, these pages are for you whether:

    • you have a minute, or
    • you have an hour
    • you didn't even know you have an amygdala, or
    • you are neuroscientist
    • you are not even sure how to pray, or
    • you have prayed for years

Explore your brain. Expand your prayers.
