Den 28. juni 1904 forliste det danske udvandrerskib S/S Norge vest for Skotland med kurs mod New York. 635 danskere, nordmænd og østeuropæere omkom - og kun 160 overlevede den største skibskatastrofe i danmarkshistorien.
