Story
In the early years of Christianity, it was forbidden to move and share the remains of saints and martyrs, and they were protected so that their final resting places, such as catacombs and cemeteries, remained intact. The earliest recorded Christian relics, specifically the bones and ashes of martyrs, date from the second century. Two hundred years later, St. Ambrose and others set out to dig up the corpses and honor them. At that time, it was considered that every holy body could be dismembered and divided among the faithful to worship it.

Story
Once a year at Thanksgiving, we encounter Pilgrims as folksy people in funny hats before promptly forgetting them. Story
Nineteenth-century America was rife with Protestant-fueled anti-Catholicism. Elizabeth Hayes Alvarez reveals how Protestants nevertheless became surprisingly and deeply fascinated with the Virgin Mary, even as her role as a devotional figure who united Catholics grew. Documenting the vivid Marian imagery that suffused popular visual and literary culture, Alvarez argues that Mary became a potent shared exemplar of Christian womanhood around which Christians of all stripes rallied.

“¡Esta es solo tu interpretación!”. ¿Cuantas veces hemos oído este comentario cuando queremos tener una conversación sobre temas espirituales? ¿Cómo podemos responder? ¿Es personal toda interpretación de la Biblia? No. La interpretación de una obra literaria es tanto un arte como una ciencia. La Biblia es una obra literaria. Cuando utilizamos los principios literarios de interpretación al leer la Biblia, las posibles interpretaciones se reducen a un rango muy manejable.

There's a Sheep in My Bathtub chronicles the adventures of the Hogan family as they try to follow God's leading into one of the world's most remote and mysterious enclaves. Disarmingly honest and charmingly humorous, their tale will thrill you and bring tears to your eyes. An intensely personal memoir, this book still manages to pack a powerful dose of missionary insight and biblical principles for seeing the Church explode into life among peoples that have never even heard of Jesus.
