Die Geschichte lässt uns auf wunderbare Weise den Zauber des Weihnachtsfestes erleben:
Der ruchlose Geschäftsmann Ebenezer Scrooge wird von drei Weihnachtsgeistern heimgesucht, die ihm begreiflich machen, was für ein abscheulicher Mensch er geworden ist. Aber sie geben ihm auch die Möglichkeit, sein Leben zu ändern.

Doch das Schachspiel fördert bei Dr. B., einem österreichischen Emigranten, Erinnerungen an den Terror seiner Inhaftierung im Nationalsozialismus zutage.

In den gut 45 Stunden schildert Casanova zunächst seine Kindheit, seine Jugend und seine ersten zärtlichen Bekanntschaften. Er sammelt Erfahrungen als Geistlicher und Soldat. Man erfährt außerdem einiges über Casanovas Reisen nach Rom, Wien oder Bologna - und seine zahlreichen amourösen Abenteuer dort. Diese bringen ihm auch seine ersten "galanten Denkzettel" ein.

"Blütezeit" ist der zweite Teil der ungekürzten Lesung von Casanovas "Geschichte meines Lebens". In den mehr als 42 Stunden schildert Casanova nicht nur seine zahlreichen amourösen Abenteuer. Er richtet auch in Paris eine Lotterie ein, erzählt vom Mordversuch an Ludwig XV, gerät später selbst mit der Justiz aneinander und beschließt, Mönch zu werden. Aber er ändert schnell seinen Entschluss und reist als Geheimagent nach Holland.

"Reife" ist der dritte Teil der ungekürzten Lesung von Casanovas "Geschichte meines Lebens". In diesen fast 45 Stunden schildert Casanova wieder viele Reisen, die ihn durch halb Europa führen, unter anderem nach Paris, Madrid oder London. Dort macht er nicht nur Erfahrungen mit der "Denkweise der Engländer", sondern verführt auch zahlreiche Damen der gehobenen Gesellschaft, wobei er sich wie oft zuvor "Denkzettel", also Geschlechtskrankheiten, einfängt.
