The Body Snatcher (1884) was first published in the Pall Mall Christmas Extra in Dec 1884. It is a horrifying story of students paid to "snatch" bodies for a medical school. Strange things begin to happen and the story builds to an exraordinary and startling conclusion. A movie version of the story was made in 1945. A Child's Garden of Verses is a book of poetry for children. Stevenson dedicated the poems to his nurse, Cummy (Alison Cunningham), who cared for him during his many childhood illnesses. The collection includes some of Stevenson's most famous poems, including “The Land of Counterpane”, “My Shadow", and “The Lamplighter”.

It tells the story of mild-mannered lawyer G.J. Utterson who becomes alarmed by the odd behavior of his friend and client Dr. Henry Jekyll.
